Environment was great! Nice cool weather, awesome river to play in, pretty views. Bathrooms and showers…. Not so much. We used them once then had to figure out something else out they were so nasty. I know hard water will leave stains, but there’s a difference in that and just straight up be dirty. I really like to camp at this place but in order for us to come back they’ll have to get better about the bathrooms because we need em! C’mon Yancey County, I know yall can do better than this! Staff seemed super nice everyone we talked to. Hopefully it was just an off week!

We use to camp here several times a year and it was our favorite campground. We haven’t been in two years and we were completely shocked at how it has went down hill as far as cleanliness. The toilets and showers were absolutely disgusting. They are terribly water stained as well as there were spider webs in the showers that were there the whole time we were and we stayed three nights. Thankfully we were able to figure showers out at our camper because trying to shower three kids in those showers and keeping them from touching anything was impossible. The toilet seats were cleanish and the trash was emptied daily but as far as good cleaning it looks like it hasn’t been done in a while. The water was so bad that in the three days we were there it stained our camper where it run down. The guy in the camp store was super friendly with our big group that came for ice cream everyday. If you have a good bathroom in your camper where you can shower and a water filteration system then this could be the perfect campground. Great place to fish, play in the river and a decent sized playground. As packed as this campground stays they could afford to put some money into the bathrooms.

We really enjoyed the peaceful stay. It was a nice quiet campground. It was great to see kids out being "kids" enjoying themselves riding bikes, playing on the playground and in the river. Our niece enjoyed herself as well. It would have been nice if the pool would have been opened but apparently there were no lifeguards or some issue that prevented it. We still had a great time. We will be going back as soon as we can!
