Perry Lake - COE/Longview
Overview
Longview Park at Perry Lake offers a peaceful retreat managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Situated on the southeastern shores of the lake, this campground provides a scenic backdrop for travelers seeking a genuine connection with nature. Known for its well-maintained campsites and rolling terrain, it serves as an excellent base for exploring the expansive waters of one of Kansas's premier recreation areas. The park combines the beauty of the outdoors with the structured layout typical of federal campgrounds.
Location & Surroundings
Nestled in the Delaware River valley, the park is surrounded by lush woodlands and rugged limestone bluffs that are characteristic of the region. The location provides easy access from both Topeka and Lawrence, making it a convenient stop for regional travelers. Visitors are often treated to views of the 11,000-acre reservoir, which defines the landscape and offers a cooling breeze during the warm Kansas summers. The surrounding tallgrass prairie creates a unique ecosystem rich with local wildlife and birdwatching opportunities.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features several loops with 30 and 50 amp electric hookups available for RVers. While the atmosphere remains rustic and serene, the park provides essential modern conveniences including a dump station, shower facilities, and flush toilets. Families frequently appreciate the on-site playground and picnic shelters, while boaters take advantage of the convenient boat ramp that provides direct access to the water for a day of exploration or watersports on the lake.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw for those visiting this part of Kansas. Anglers frequent the waters for crappie, walleye, and catfish, while hikers and mountain bikers enjoy the challenging terrain of the Perry Lake Trail. Beyond the park borders, the nearby Perry State Park offers additional multi-use trails for horseback riding, and the historic charm of downtown Lawrence provides a vibrant dining and shopping scene for those looking to mix nature with local culture.
Who This Park Is Best For
Longview is ideal for nature enthusiasts and families who prefer a quiet, scenic environment over a high-traffic commercial resort. It is a favorite for those who enjoy water sports or fishing and value the reliability and spaciousness of a COE-managed facility. If you are looking for a tranquil lakefront experience with the comfort of electrical hookups and easy water access, this park is a perfect fit for your travel style.

Perry Lake is my favorite fishing place. I was on a fishing mission for a week or two. It's a great night spot down below the spillway where the road ends. Have caught quite a few catfish there. Anyway, my van broke down on the dam & helped get it out of the way and parked in a parking lot by restrooms. The Corp rangers made sure I had water and food. Ranger Kellie Snyder was especially helpful in finding the people who would give me the help I needed. Fishing is great and the Rangers are too. See you there!!!
