It was great for two different weekend stays. We have a "little" 16 foot trailer (3100 lbs), so the curvy country roads to the campground from US 1 were no problems for us. The campground is on a wide hill, so you will get exercise walking around. One electric & water service campsite was down by the river, the other electric & water & sewer site was basically as high on the hill as you can go. Bathrooms seemed clean enough for me. Store has essentials and snacks, and 3 different staff members were very pleasant to speak with, one helped me get backed into the top of the hill site. Rented a canoe, had a great time using it for an hour on the very gentle and medium wide river. We love the Brandywine area and Longwood Gardens so we will be staying here many times in the future. I read not-so-happy reviews from people with over 30' RVs, and I could see them not loving some of the tighter spaces inside and outside the camp. There are some pull-through sites that are probably a sanity-saver requirement for bigger rigs.

I had to give this a little bit of a lower score for location because it is off the beaten track. Very narrow roads to get there. Lots of twists and turns and I am in a 43-ft fifth wheel which was difficult to navigate the campground. Whoever was very nice. The only thing are the dang black walnuts falling from the trees and breaking people's windows and things like that. But I did see staff out there cleaning a lot. You just can't prevent the nuts from falling. The place was quiet. It has canoes it's on the river. There's a great little trail to walk your dogs. Bath house and shower house was clean. Here's a nice little store. Here's a nice little store. Pool is closed for the season as of right now and there's a really good pizza place about a mile and a half away. Gas stations are quite a bit further away. Not ideal for one night. Stop in my opinion.

My wife and I really enjoy the campground. We try to get there a couple of times a year if possible. I writing this review as a heads up to new people regarding a cancellation policy I wasn't aware of. I was planning to spend two night this coming weekend with our family and another family at two adjoinings sites by the river (they are really pretty, great for fishing right from the site). Well, the weather has shifted and there is a lightning storm coming on Saturday night and our family friends decided it best to postpone. So I called to cancel the reservations and I was told I have to forfeit a nearly $80 deposit. Mind you, our reason for cancellation is not because we WANT to cancel but because we aren't comfortable camping during a lightning storm. They told us we could have a site farther from the river (I was also concerned with camping during heavy rain, especially since the incident at Camp Mystic in Texas earlier in the year). So, if you are making plans to stay there be really sure the weather forecast doesn't include the possibility of lightning because if you have to cut your stay short due to dangerous weather you will have to forfeit your deposit. Like I said, it's a beautiful campground to stay. We've done the cabins in the late winter and had a blast. I'm disappointed the service wasn't better when it comes to dangerous weather cancellations.

The staff at this KOA location was courteous and mostly helpful. However, that was overshadowed by the campground location, steep roads, and low water pressure. No matter which direction you come from, the roads are very narrow with sharp curves. Construction in the area caused us to go down a road that was less than standard width with many blind hills; there was no recommended route from the campground. Trees along said roads are not trimmed high enough and our roof bares evidence of that. The roads inside the campground are very steep and are mostly composed of dirt and gravel, requiring regular grading by campground staff. Traction can be an issue on hills and rain causes very large ruts. The roads should really be paved with proper water drainage. I CANNOT recommend this campground for big rigs. You run a high risk of damaging your RV getting to and from the location. The water pressure was low or nonexistent for most of our week-long stay. I was shocked to see no previous reviews mention this; it must be a new issue. Regardless, communication was lacking with no proactive notification to campers when the water was out or being worked on.

Pros: Location was great. Any staff we spoke too were wonderful. They sent out updates texts during your stay to all campers which I thought was pretty cool. Any campground activities, updates, or lost & found items. The bathrooms and showers were pretty nice. The view where our campsite was down by the water was beautiful. The pool was a life savor for my kids. They were in the pool the majority of our stay. all campers we came across were also very kind and respectful. Cons: we were tent camping so we didn’t have an issue, but the space is not very big rig friendly. I can see how people with big campers may have issues getting around here or even into a spot. The biggest con for me was the bathrooms being up at the top of the hill and none down by the water. It wasn’t a long walk per se, but the hill was brutal. I would much rather stay down by the water as it’s a better view and more space, but if you want to go to the bathroom, shower, store or pool, you have to go up a very steep hill. (You can drive) While it was great exercise for my legs, not fun at 2am when I wake up to use the restroom. Our car is loud so we didn’t want to wake everyone up by driving up there. I did see people with motorized scooters and such which is a great idea. I also seen several campers with potty tents. I would probably consider one or the other before staying again, but we will definitely be back!

Wow! This is the cleanest campground we have stayed at. Upon checking in the 2 younger girls in the office were extremely friendly and helpful with our checking in. We were escorted to our site, #81 and again just WOW! Awesome site! Every site here was just not bulldozed as a spot, you can see much though was given to make each site unique. We have 3 more reservations here throughout the season (unfortunately not site 81 😢) but we can’t wait to come back! This will definitely land in our top 5 list of go to campgrounds that we are putting together! GREAT JOB WEST CHESTER KOA!!

Loved this place ! Been trying to decide if I want to buy RV. This was my 3rd time renting….went to a few local places (Gloucester County NJ) Staying here at this KOA West Chester actually made my decision to buy !! I found my close to home vacation spot. Had water(front) , quiet , roomy, convenient spot.. for my rented 25ft. Motor home. Loved the view! Very clean. Lovely Brandywine Creek to enjoy with canoes. Super NICE girls working at desk. I can’t wait to become a regular camper here.

I had a delivery to this location and it looked like a fun place. There was a really nice pool and rec area. The lifeguard was very easy on the eyes.
