Pike Lake
Overview
Pike Lake Provincial Park serves as a vibrant sanctuary just a short drive from the city, offering a unique landscape where the prairie meets a tranquil oxbow lake. This park is celebrated for its lush greenery and diverse wildlife, providing a refreshing contrast to the surrounding plains. It is a cornerstone of Saskatchewan’s park system, blending classic camping traditions with modern recreational facilities that cater to active travelers.
Location & Surroundings
Located approximately 20 minutes southwest of Saskatoon on Highway 60, the park sits within the scenic South Saskatchewan River Valley. The environment is characterized by thick aspen parklands and remnants of ancient sand dunes, creating a varied terrain for exploration. Its proximity to the city makes it an accessible getaway for RVers who want to enjoy the outdoors without traveling deep into the northern wilderness of the province.
Amenities & Park Features
The park provides a variety of camping options, including over 200 electric campsites suitable for most RV sizes. Visitors have access to essential services like a sani-dump station, potable water, and modern washroom facilities with showers. For recreation, the park features a large heated pool with a waterslide, a nine-hole golf course, and a sandy beach area perfect for launching kayaks or canoes to explore the calm waters of the lake.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the Gift of Green Nature Trail, a 1.5-kilometer interpretive path that showcases the area's distinct flora and fauna. Beyond the park gates, the city of Saskatoon offers cultural landmarks like the Remai Modern art gallery and the Western Development Museum. Within the park, families often congregate for rounds of mini-golf or birdwatching, as the oxbow lake is a frequent stop for migratory waterfowl and local shorebirds.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is an ideal match for family vacationers seeking a resort-style atmosphere with plenty of organized activities to keep children entertained. It also appeals to local RVers looking for a convenient weekend retreat that offers more amenities than a primitive site. Because of its well-maintained paths and accessible facilities, it is particularly welcoming for those who prefer barrier-free environments while still enjoying the natural beauty of the Saskatchewan prairie.

We love this place for short canoe outings close to Saskatoon. You could launch at the boat launch on the west side, but we really enjoy launching at the public beach and heading into the East/Northeast arm of the lake, into the marshy area full of birds and wildlife and very few people (no powerboats in there). It's calm even on windier days, and a lovely getaway.

The double camp sites and 40 year plus BBQ grills is why I wouldn't go back. Couldn't have a camp fire without starting a forest fire. All other provincial parks I have visited have the colvert style BBQ pits with swing BBQ grills. Step up to the plate Pike Lake and do some renovations. They do have a very nice pool and water slide for the kids.

Fantastic place for you and your family/friends spend the weekend. They have have a lot of things for you to do. Pool, golf, canoe, bike, camp... the list is long... They are constantly updating their establishment, improving the camping area. They should have more opinions for restaurants. If you are in Saskatoon this is one of the things for you to do in summer time. ⛺️😎🚣🏼♀️
