Special place... off the beaten path. Try to make the moderate hike to North Fork Reservoir. Beautiful up there

What a cool campground! Isolated and peaceful with a beautiful view of Mount Shaveno! The host was awesome, and the bathroom was clean!

This is a first come first serve camping ground. It has 2-3 trails but is next to a small creek, with strong water. We really enjoyed it. Ranger was on duty always so it felt so safe.

Colorado locals and especially in the Salida area, too often we look over the natural beauty this place. The trails reminded me after 30ish years of what magic is in our backyards

Nice campground, toilets were rank.

Good dependable source for water.

My favorite campground. Beautiful views and always friendly campers to visit with. My family first started camping here over 25 years ago and we keep coming back. But just so you know, the campground has pit toilets and a hand pump for water. That is the only conveniences here so, glampers might not like it as much as I do. Enjoy the nature and try it out.

I am torn, because I love this place and the camp host was great, but at the same time, if too many people go it will be ruined. There is only a creek nearby, not great for fishing unless you have a 4x4 with good clearance and can make the 10mile trek up the mountain to the lake where all of the trees have been cut down. The beetle kill is immense there and the trees seem to have been cut to create a fire barrier. The hiking is excellent and challenging, but don't be unprepared.

We camped at Angel of Shavano Campground a couple of weeks ago and stayed in spot #8... This campground is off of CR240 in Salida we were going up the road looking for a camping spot and found this by kismet and it was AWESOME! I did fail to ask for the Hosts name in which I feel horrible about because he was so AMAZING! Whoever he is...I want to say how kind and welcoming he was! He maintained and kept this beautiful campground AMAZING! I keep saying these keywords in capitals because that’s how AWESOME this host and campground was!!! It was not only in a beautiful location! With a river nearby it was kept unturned almost like if there was no human activity! The restroom facilities were kept nice and clean and equipped! No running of water course in the restroom facilities however there is a nearby water pump to get water on site. I can’t express how awesome this place is! And the overnight fee is only $20 or Day Use $7!!! Great PLACE and GREAT PRICES! We can’t wait to go back!

A great small (19 sites) campground near Mt Shavano. We were able to park our 28' trailer in #1. Trailhead for The Colorado Trail (and onto Shavano Mountain) is just outside the campgrounds. Or you can continue north on CR240 past the campgrounds on an OHV and see some beautiful vistas. Leon and his wife Sara Fay are wonderful campground hosts.
