Nestled in the foothills of the Guadalupe Mountains near Salt Flat, TX, the campground sits at an elevation of approximately 5,700 feet. This location provides stunning mountain views and a dramatic backdrop of limestone cliffs. The surrounding environment is characterized by high-desert flora and rocky terrain. Because of its remote positioning, the area offers some of the most clear, dark night skies in the region, perfect for stargazing enthusiasts and nature photographers.
Amenities & Park Features
As a primitive-style campground, Pine Springs focuses on essential facilities rather than luxury resort features. The site provides potable water and vault toilets for visitor use. Each individual campsite includes a picnic table and a tent pad. While there are no utility hookups for RVs, the area remains popular for those who are self-contained travelers. The campground is open year-round, allowing guests to experience the unique seasonal transitions of the Chihuahuan Desert landscape.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw of this location is immediate access to world-class hiking trails. These natural landmarks provide endless opportunities for wildlife viewing, bird watching, and exploring the diverse geological history of the ancient Capitan Reef.
Who This Park Is Best For

No showers, no electric hook up, not really set up for an RV other than a place to park. Beautiful views and hiking.

Amazing experience. Working water, 2 different restrooms available. Only thing to mention is the amount of gnats, other than that definitely worth the trip.

We stayed in our truck-trailer, not the tents. The parking lot is a great location for hiking and centralized for the park as well. Location is 5-stars. The 'campground' is mediocre, at best. Everyone is parked on top of each other. I set out our game cameras out the back into the tree line and the only thing I caught was our neighbor peeing in the middle of the night. The walk to the restroom is less than 1-minute. Good restrooms and a dishwashing station as well.

The RV campground isn't bad. Since many of the tent sites are first come first serve it's worth a look if you can sleep in your car, van or small RV. No electric hook ups and it does get cold at night (March for us) so pack warm clothes and heaters if you can power them.

Had a great time here. We spent one night tent camping- super well maintained camp sites, great views, easy to park and get space from other campers. Super peaceful. Second night we stayed in the truck in the RV lot- if you’re parking there, just know that it’s a parking lot! But views out the back are delightful, you’re right near the bathrooms and water fill station, and it was quiet.
