Pinelake Campground

Overview

Pinelake Campground offers a peaceful retreat nestled in the rolling landscapes of Oconee County. Located just outside the historic community of Bishop, this park provides a classic Georgia camping experience with a mix of wooded sites and open spaces. The atmosphere is notably family-friendly and tranquil, making it an ideal choice for travelers looking to escape the bustle of the highway while remaining close to modern conveniences and the scenic beauty of the region.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in the heart of Middle Georgia, surrounded by towering pines and hardwood trees that provide natural shade and privacy. Its proximity to Athens makes it a popular staging ground for those visiting the University of Georgia or attending local sporting events. Despite its accessibility, the grounds maintain a secluded feel, anchored by a serene private lake that serves as the centerpiece of the property's natural beauty and quiet ambiance.

Amenities & Park Features

Pinelake Campground is equipped with essential facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for both short-term and seasonal guests. The park features full hookup RV sites with 30 and 50-amp electricity, accommodating a variety of rig sizes. On-site recreation and facility highlights include:

  • Access to a private fishing lake for guests
  • A refreshing seasonal swimming pool and sun deck
  • Clean laundry facilities and a community clubhouse

Campers also appreciate the well-maintained gravel roads and the inclusion of fire rings and picnic tables at individual sites, perfect for evening gatherings.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Exploring the surrounding area is easy, with the charming town of Watkinsville nearby, known for its local arts, pottery, and boutiques. Nature lovers will enjoy visiting the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, located just a short drive away, offering miles of trails and curated floral displays. For those seeking urban excitement, the vibrant Athens music scene and historic architecture are less than twenty minutes from the campground, providing a perfect balance of rural peace and city culture.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent fit for nature-loving families and couples who prefer a quieter, more traditional campground environment over a high-activity resort. We stayed here on a stop over to visit family in Hiawassee. The location is perfect 20 minutes to everything. Antique malls , cotton fields antebellum homes. Everything wonderful about Georgia ! The sites are well spread out a little, secluded with trees in between depending on what area you’re staying in beautiful lakes, wonderful walking trails and extremely quiet. We will definitely go back. Make sure u swing into thr Golden Panty down the road for fresh biscuits u won’t be disappointed

Just checking this campground for an upcoming weekend and see they more than double their rate for campsites on UGA home game weekends. Price gouging at it's finest. We've stayed at this campground before and can say the sites are definitely not worth $110 a night, even if close to the stadium.

We are leaving! Pine Lake RV park in Bishop, GA saved us in January. It is a very very nice campground. The owners are so nice and helpful. The pads are level. It’s only 25 minutes from downtown Athens! Lots of things to do too!! If you ever need a place it is A+!

It was our first time staying but most definitely not our last. Great people, very nice spots and the bath house was spotless! Lots of options when it comes to camping spots. Thank you for making us feel welcome and we hope to be back soon! #GOVOLS

Great campground ran by great people. Easy communication, you call they answer and are super friendly and knowledgeable. The campsite we stayed in was huge. lots of trails to walk around and a couple different ponds to look at or fish. They also have a dog park. It seems like they're several full timers which to me is a good thing (they like to stay here). Easy drive to UGA about 15 minutes. There is a Gas station and Dollar general about 3 minutes away. Very clean place! Also thanks Karen for all of your help with our late checkout you're great!! Highly recommend!
