Pittock Conservation Area
Overview
Pittock Conservation Area offers a peaceful retreat located on the northern edge of Woodstock, Ontario. This expansive natural area spans over 2,000 acres and is centered around the Pittock Reservoir, providing a diverse habitat for local wildlife and a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Managed by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, the park provides a well-maintained environment for both seasonal and short-term RV travelers looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Southwestern Ontario while staying connected to modern conveniences.
Location & Surroundings
The park is uniquely situated where the urban convenience of Woodstock meets the tranquility of the rural countryside. The landscape is defined by the expansive reservoir and lush woodlots that offer a cool canopy during the warm summer months. Because it is located so close to major transportation corridors like the Highway 401 and 403, it serves as an accessible escape that feels surprisingly remote once you are settled into your campsite. The surrounding terrain is relatively flat, making it easy to navigate for larger vehicles.
Amenities & Park Features
RVers will find a variety of site options, including electric and water hookups suitable for various rig sizes and power requirements. The park features clean washroom facilities, modern showers, and convenient laundry services to make longer stays comfortable for the whole family. For recreation, visitors can enjoy a pro-style disc golf course, a large boat launch for motorized and non-motorized vessels, and a designated swimming area. The park also provides well-kept playgrounds and several picnic shelters for group gatherings.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the park gates, the city of Woodstock offers a variety of cultural experiences, such as the Woodstock Museum National Historic Site and several charming local boutiques. Nature lovers can explore the extensive trail system that winds around the reservoir, which is perfect for bird watching or morning cycling. For those who enjoy local flavors, the surrounding Oxford County is famous for its Cheese Trail, offering delicious culinary stops and artisan shops just a short drive from your campsite.
Who This Park Is Best For
This conservation area is an ideal choice for active families and retirees who enjoy water-based activities like fishing, kayaking, and sailing. It is also a fantastic fit for travelers who want a natural camping experience without sacrificing proximity to grocery stores and restaurants. If you appreciate a park that balances structured recreation with quiet, scenic vistas and easy highway access, Pittock Conservation Area is an excellent fit for your next Ontario RV road trip.

We stayed a week here to visit family in Woodstock. This is our second stay here in the fall. It’s a lovely park with good amenities. There are wild raspberries all over the place that could be better enjoyed earlier in the year. The changing leaves were beautiful!

For a day's trip, this is a good place to visit. They also have nice picnic areas and camp sites which I did not use, and cannot review. If you are coming for a day visit, you should come to the Southside parking lot, which is not the default location when you use Google to navigate. From the Southside parking lot, you can visit the dam or walk in the trails. The dam is worth a visit. A very unique structure with different levels of water on either side. A good place to fish as well. The only part that I felt could be better is, parts of the trails are not maintained and hard to walk.

Close to the city but the feel of the rustic outdoors. A clean taken care of park. Very friendly an helpful people staff and regulars. Nice lake to fish in. The store was not that great it only sold wood and ice on weekends not during the week. The sues were close together but because of covid spacing I was okay. There was a nice trail and a swim area. It was a nice alternative getaway.

Very beautiful well kept park with an amazing trail that goes all the way to Roth Park here in Woodstock. Here they have to the right a day area with a play group a splash pad many picnic tables its quite has public bathroom i believe they are now open to the public. To their left is the camping grounds and there is so much to that side i recommend that you come visit get a map and discover your next family adventures.

Best of both worlds...there is a nice paved section of the trail that leads along the lake, and for the brave at heart, it turns into a gravel trail around half way down the lake. Great place for young families and pets. Safe for children to try out their skateboard, ripstick, roller blades, etc skills.
