It's a primitive campground, which we wanted. The roads are primitive, as well. We stayed in late October so it was mostly empty, which was also good. The surrounding little towns are full of good, helpful, honest people, including the business owners. Fayetteville isn't far away, and gives you the choice of touristy places as well. The "Secret Sandwich Society" is one of those, it is excellent, but expensive. The canyon pic's are from nearby New River Gorge, a 5.8 mi hike. The lake pic's are from the lake we camped on.

It was beautiful. The drive was really ruff. Pot holes everywhere but it was worth it. We'll certainly be going there on our next camping trip. There's potties there. Yeah

I took a drive last Saturday looking for a new trail to hike with our two dogs. I decided to try Plum Orchard Lake. It was easy to get to, the lake was lovely, and I can only imagine what it looked like when the leaf colors were changing and peaking. I didn't see any signs for trails near the main boat launch right as you approach the lake, so decided to drive the 3 miles to the campground. The dirt road is no joke - narrow and windy - but pretty. There were bow hunters parked and walking off into the woods so I would not feel safe wandering, and I never did see any trails. I drove a short ways past the small campground and found a small dock and boat launch, and let my dogs run around for a little while. The whole place seemed clean and well kept. I probably won't go back for any reason other than to canoe or kayak in the future. I don't believe swimming is allowed.

This lake is just so wonderful to visit especially this time of year, June, it has camping sites which are free, great fishing, and it is filled with water lilies about 50% of the lake, it is a small lake, which is well-kept and maintained, there is a shooting range also so be sure to take it vantage of that, I go there every chance I get
