The campsites are huge and widely spaced. Everything is clean and new. My hubs and I were able to go into the shower room and have enough space to comfortably take turns as there is a small bench to sit on. Great place to hike, bike, bird watch and nearby lakes for fishing, . Quiet and peaceful for kicking back and enjoying nature. The camp hosts were great (Keith &wife and 3 King Charles cuties). We did see the law enforcement rangers cruise around. Very safe!! Many of the review complaints are about extra people visiting. I will say we saw some folks get in trouble with this while we were there. They are very strict on their guidelines so read them prior to. The rangers were helpful and we enjoyed ourselves. Spring time visit (Mid March) and bugs/flies are just starting, so not too bad.

This park is amazing. Its tucked away is a beautiful county. It offers everything you could want. The park is well kept and people that visit all seem to be courteous to others visiting. The pool area is well maintained and lots of fun. Very nice fun experience.

The biggest state park in Virginia, Pocahontas has many wonderful trails for endless hiking, lots of fun canoeing, nature education, a big swimming pool, holiday events, and much more to discover. So happy I live nearby! Perfect for families and anybody who enjoys the outdoors. You'll never run out of things to do.

Ranger Brown was absolutely incredible! I pulled up to pay my parking fee, never been to the state park, and she was an absolute joy. Bright, spirited, and very informative, I just know the park is lucky to have her. She completely planned my day with great sites to see and hikes to take. I am so appreciative and can’t wait to come back :)

Beautiful, very clean state park. Nice, well spaced sites, quiet. Some information isn't easily available. The maps don't show the lakes so we had to drive around to find them. No distance information to get to things. No idea where the camp host was; no signs, nothing in the campground handouts. An employee cut the same area of grass twice in less than 24 hours near our site, which made no sense. It would be helpful if more roads had posted names. If you can figure things out on your own you'll be set.
