Pomme De Terre Lake - COE/Outlet Park
Overview
Pomme De Terre Lake - COE/Outlet Park offers a serene camping experience nestled directly below the massive Pomme de Terre Dam. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this park is widely recognized for its well-maintained grounds and immediate proximity to the river. It serves as a peaceful retreat for those looking to escape the bustle of larger lakefront resorts while remaining close to exceptional water activities and scenic Missouri landscapes.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the rolling Ozark hills of Hermitage, Missouri, the park sits in a lush, sheltered valley. The landscape is defined by mature hardwood trees and the steady, cool flow of the Pomme de Terre River. Its unique position below the dam provides a microclimate that is often cooler and quieter than the main lake surface. This makes the park a prime destination for birdwatching and enjoying the vibrant seasonal foliage that the region is known for.
Amenities & Park Features
This campground provides several amenities designed for comfort and convenience during your stay:
- Electric hookup sites catering to various RV lengths and power needs
- Access to a modern shower house and well-maintained vault toilets

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the standout attraction here, as the river below the dam is famous for its muskie and walleye populations. Just a short drive up the road, campers can access the main lake for boating, tubing, and swimming at public beaches. For those seeking local entertainment, the Lucas Oil Speedway in nearby Wheatland offers world-class dirt track racing. Additionally, several hiking trails wind through the area, offering views of impressive limestone bluffs and local wildlife.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal choice for nature enthusiasts and dedicated anglers who prefer a quiet, rustic atmosphere over a high-traffic commercial resort. It is particularly well-suited for families seeking an affordable outdoor getaway and RVers who appreciate the consistent quality of federal campground facilities. If your travel style involves peaceful evenings by a campfire and early mornings on the river, this Hermitage gem is a perfect fit for your itinerary.

One of our Army Corp Campground. Nice hike/bike trail. Nice toilet and showers during warm months, vault toilet by picnic shelter during winter. I pretty sure there is electric at sites year around.

Really nice vacation location, great for family and fun, excellent water access, fishing, and all sorts of other recreational activities. I had a great time and I think you will too!

It's been an amazing camping trip. We took the kids camping for the first time of this year. And it's been a good experience we survived the storm that wanted to roll through. All the tenants that live up front are all pretty nice. And the tenant herself she's pretty nice

Very nice but small campground, sites are decently spaced, back up to river, and shaded with picnic table. Lots of wildlife, kayak entrance, small trail. Not too far to town.
