I was really torn on what to do here because I'm a business owner and know reviews can harm a business, but I'm also a fellow camper who needs to warn other campers. So, I decided to be honest in my review while giving Pony Soldier a 5 star review. If I wasn't a business owner, I would have rated this a 4 star. The main issue is something that isn't Pony Soldiers fault, they have a significant fly problem; it's like an armageddon level fly problem. I'm not over exaggerating, every time you open your camper door at least 30 flies come in. Every time you open your car door, at least 10 flies get in. We couldn't comfortably cook outside because you're swarmed by flies. We did everything we could to just stay indoors so more flies wouldn't enter our camper. I'm not familiar with the area, but the whole place smells of manure, like cattle manure and maybe this is why there are so many flies; either way I've never seen anything quite like it. We were visiting Fort Laramie and chose this place because it was close, however if I knew about the fly apocalypse, I would have stayed somewhere else; even if it were 30 miles away. My reason for 4 star instead of 5 is because my site was level on a macro level, but there are micro dips that cause havoc to auto-levelers. They would greatly benefit some gravel or routine grading. The people are super friendly and the spots are spacious, it was a great location right off the highway.

Spots are super easy to pull into, and level. Great for one night stays while traveling. There is a railroad nearby with trains going every hour or so, but not so bad with the noise.

We stayed just one night while passing through and wanting to see Fort Laramie and Guernsey Ruts. Pulled in and our rig was swarmed by flies. They were everywhere on the outside of our motorhome - never been in a campground with them this bad! While setting up our rig and having to open the doors (as little as possible), our camper was flooded with them. Killed at least 30 flies in the first half hour and continued kiling them into the evening! Wondered if it was just the area, but we didn't have any problems with flies when we visited sites around the area. No animal pastures seemed nearby to account for it. Kids wouldn't even ride their bikes because of them. The next morning when we got up, they were all over the sunny side of our motorhome. Owners need to spray or do something about the flies. Owner was very nice when arriving. Campsites are spacious pull-thru's with scattered weeds and sand with some grass - somewhat level. Roadways are gravel and okay. Had FHU and they were okay. Bathrooms seemed fairly clean but dated. The two women's showers had no shower curtains or anything to give you any privacy! Just a curtain between the shower area and the toilet area. There was ample room in each stall to hang a curtain and hooks, but none there. No place to hang your clothes or towels. Would not use them due to privacy issue! No handicapped facilities. Only dumpster is in the back of the campground near the mobile home - not near the front so you can get rid of it as you leave. Trains do run frequently near the campground and blow their horns as they approach. Had fan and A/C running at night and did not hear them during the night. Didn't bother us. Just seems like a campground that has seen better days and needs some TLC. Would not stay there again unless no other choice because of the flies and shower privacy issues.

Nice park, basic with restrooms and showers. Wonderful couple own and run the place. Clean with large grass spaces.

We are first time RVers and I can't think of a better place to have stayed for our inaugural weekend in our first ever motorcoach! I was initially greeted by Ellie, who was a precious and adorable furbaby of Julie's. Julie was wonderful, kind, and patient answering my questions upon check in! The hubby wsd thrilled with chocolate 🍫 😋. We got the pick of sites. Our spot was nice and grassy. We pulled through with no issues and hooking up was easy peasy. Wifi strength was great. As an obsessed railfan, the hubby was thrilled to see the trains. We will definitely stay here again.
