Prescott/Hazlett Hollow

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Hazlett Hollow Campground, situated within the scenic Prescott National Forest, offers a quintessential high-desert camping experience. This rustic destination is part of the larger Lynx Lake Recreation Area, providing visitors with a serene escape from the bustle of city life. The park is nestled among towering Ponderosa pines, creating a cooling canopy that makes it a popular choice for those seeking to reconnect with nature in a peaceful, natural environment.

Location & Surroundings

Located just a short drive from downtown Prescott, Arizona, the campground provides easy access to urban amenities while maintaining a secluded feel. Positioned at an elevation that offers pleasant temperatures during the summer months, the site is surrounded by dramatic granite boulders and dense evergreen forests. Its proximity to the iconic Lynx Lake makes it an ideal base for travelers who want to explore the rugged beauty of the Bradshaw Mountains and the surrounding Coconino National Forest landscapes.

Amenities & Park Features

While Hazlett Hollow is a more rustic option, it provides the essential comforts needed for a pleasant stay. The campground features well-maintained tent and trailer sites designed to accommodate mid-sized rigs comfortably. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for evening campfires under the stars. Vault toilets are available throughout the loop, and the park’s layout ensures that guests enjoy generous spacing between sites for a more private outdoor experience.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The crown jewel of the area is Lynx Lake, which sits within walking distance of the campground. Visitors frequently enjoy kayaking and paddleboarding on the calm waters or fishing for trout and bass from the shoreline. For those who prefer land-based adventures, the surrounding forest is crisscrossed by an extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails. History enthusiasts also enjoy exploring the nearby Gold Rush-era sites and the charming historic downtown district of Prescott.

Who This Park Is Best For

Hazlett Hollow is perfect for RVers who prioritize a back-to-basics wilderness experience over modern resort-style amenities. It is an ideal fit for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and solo travelers who want to wake up surrounded by pines rather than asphalt. If you prefer quiet nights, starry skies, and immediate access to trailheads and lakeside recreation, this tranquil Forest Service campground serves as an excellent home base for your Arizona mountain getaway.

This campground is free. I went on a Wednesday and there was no one there. It is clean and the shelters are in good shape.

Had the entire campground to ourselves. Not maintained any longer by the forest service but it is still clean. Restroom is nothing but an outhouse but had toilet paper and didn't stink too bad like alot do. Small lake about a half mile away. Please pack your trash out and keep this place clean! And please drown your campfire in water before you leave.

2.5 hours up from I-17 and 2 hrs down. Excellent place to hide even if you're not into developed camping and prefer the dispersed sites for their privacy. Like some others have said, I had the run of the place on Sunday nite. I think the drive keeps most developed-site campers away. 4x4 not necessary, but airing down WILL help for comfort :)

Nice quiet little get away. It was interesting to have the little covered area. Kids can have a place to play.. use it for storage staging for coolers. Big enough for a tent too

Neet little place! Never new, just stumbled upon this place but what a great idea... $10 night and you have basic shelter, water, seating and a fire pit, pretty cool for the 4x4's coming up from lake pleasant...
