Primrose Park

Overview

Primrose Park offers a quiet, nature-focused retreat in the heart of the Town of Mono. Managed by the local municipality, this park provides a scenic escape for RVers looking to reconnect with the outdoors. The atmosphere is notably peaceful and rustic, making it an ideal stop for those traveling through Southern Ontario who prefer a simpler, more natural camping experience compared to busy commercial resorts.

Location & Surroundings

Situated near the junction of Highway 10 and Highway 89, the park serves as a convenient gateway to the Headwaters region of Ontario. This strategic location makes it easy to find while remaining tucked away from the main road's noise. The landscape is defined by the Boyne River, which winds through the property, creating a lush, green environment. Mature trees provide ample shade throughout the park, and the rolling hills characteristic of Mono provide a beautiful backdrop for your stay.

Amenities & Park Features

While the focus is on the environment, the park provides essential facilities for a comfortable stay. Visitors will find serviced campsites equipped with water and electrical hookups that accommodate various RV sizes. The park also features a large picnic pavilion perfect for group gatherings and a playground for families. Clean washroom facilities and easy access to the river for fishing or wading make it a practical choice for self-contained RV travelers seeking a functional basecamp in a natural setting.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The surrounding area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Hikers can easily access segments of the Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath. A short drive takes you to Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, known for its spectacular limestone cliffs and diverse hiking loops. For a touch of local culture, the nearby towns of Orangeville and Shelburne offer charming boutiques, local farmers' markets, and unique dining options within a fifteen-minute drive of the park.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent fit for nature lovers and hikers who want to explore the Niagara Escarpment. It is well-suited for families looking for a quiet weekend getaway or travelers needing a scenic resting spot along their route through the province. If you prefer river views and woodland trails over high-end resort amenities, Primrose Park offers the authentic Ontario camping experience you are looking for.

Visited a friend camping here and really liked the friendly vibe. The campground is clean and has a nice pool, playground, and handy little store. You do hear some traffic from the nearby road, but overall it’s a cozy, well-kept spot that feels welcoming.

Great little place to stay when I was thru-hiking the Bruce Trail last year and had family coming to pick me up. Tent site was a little open but almost all the other people were friendly seasonal campers and there was a lovely community vibe. Good price too!

Love tent camping here. The tent area is my favorite. Very quiet, level ground, and well shaded.I have been going to this campground for about 20 years now. Prices are very reasonable compared to other campgrounds. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful.
