Update: I spent the weekend camping with my family here on 10/11/25. It was a disaster from the moment we arrived The Oak Ridge campground has hit rock bottom. This is nothing more than an urban campground now, situated in a forest. This used to be an oasis from the social and economic issues of Washington, DC and the surrounding suburbs. Fast forward to today, it is the new normal to have homeless people car camping/Rv camping with kids. Someone looking for a quiet weekend to reflect and be able to listen to nature, is not going to find it here. Little if any of the rules are enforced anymore. Quiet hours are non existent. There are social and economic tensions between campers. You have BMW's parked next to Kia's and Rv's parked next to people sleeping in tents. Over the weekend there were many people expressing economic hostilities to others, especially tent people unhappy with Rv people running their generators. Parents refuse to correct their kids obnoxious behavior. This while parents drink way to much alcohol and lose all civility. People slept in their cars all night with the engines running. Also, there is a great deal of road traffic with people driving to the restrooms rather than making a short walk. 1. There was a very large family reunion/mass gathering going on (at least 25 people). This was in total violation of the rules. They had four cars parked in one campsite. The group also set up a very large pavilion/professional tent with a generator. This wasn't camping, this was a free for all gathering for people to cheap to rent a banquet room. The group was loud and obnoxious until 11:00pm when the rain finally put an end to their party. (Photo) 2. Kids who are not disciplined by their parents. Dear moms and dads, not everyone thinks your little johnny and little susan are perfect angels. Basic manners would be appreciated. 3. People driving the wrong way around the campground. Why is this allowed? 4. Loud rude and crude adults. Just because it isn't quiet hours yet, doesn't mean that everyone came camping to hear you and your family's personal business all the way across the campground. The campground hosts tried their best to enforce the rules but, there is only so much that they can do. Unfortunately, camping is not remotely what it used to be. Sadly, seeing what the Oak Ridge campground has turned into, I feel like the good old days of camping are gone for ever. If you go, I highly recommend locking up all your stuff when you leave your campsite. I had many individuals walk through my campsite saying that my campsite was not my campsite (owned) and that everyone has the right to walk through it. (Very sketchy!)

Campsite and restroom near our site were clean. We were able to bring our dogs, which was very nice. Some of the campsites are very close to each other and some are close to the road, so if people are getting to their site late at night, you will hear them, but overall the campground was quiet at night.

This is a nice Campground for RV up to 30’. Very quiet and lots of hiking trails. Bathroom and showers were very clean with hot water. $26 per night. Close to Marine Corp Museum and Mt Vernon. Must reserve using recreation.gov.

We stayed in the A loop on one of the outer sites in our hybrid pod/pop up trailer. The sites were large with plenty of wooded space in between sites. The bathrooms were very clean with hot water and an easy to access utility sink. The sites were well marked and easy to find. Large fire pit and large picnic table. As it states on the website there are no hook ups and it is not suitable for large trailers or RVs. There are some trails for hiking right off the campsite. Friday night was not busy at all, Saturday was a lot busier, but B loop seemed the most crowded. A loop was still very quiet, however the men’s bathroom did run out of toilet paper. Bring your own firewood, but if you forget you can search the surrounding woods for some. We would absolutely stay here again for a quick last minute weekend getaway.

Loved camping here for a Saturday night in August. Was able to book B1 for 26$ just 3 days in advance. Great spacious campsite which could fit two cars, and a 6-person tent quite easily. Slept very soundly - it's very peaceful, and the temperature was pretty perfect too. Loved the showers with hot water. Went for a morning run on the Farms to Forest Trail, and that's right at the entrance to the campground. This place is just 10 minutes from the I-95, so great overnight rest stop for anyone on a long drive.
