Archaic rules like parking in the centre of the campground instead of at the tenting site we paid $50/night for. I was told if I parked at my site, a bylaw officer would ticket me. Where do I store my food if I’m tenting? Food lockers are not provided. Clear preference is given to RV sites. Meanwhile, our site’s tent platform was too small for our tent and the bottom of the fire stove was so rusted that large coals were falling out of the bottom. Our neighbours were loud late at night with no consequences. I’ve stayed here several times in the past but after this brutal experience, next time I’ll find somewhere else outside of Edmonton to camp. Simply not worth it here. Based on reviews from several years ago about the poor state of fire stoves and parking in the campground… and the new mini golf activities at the base of the hill, it’s clear that Snow Valley is not interested in investing in maintenance or upkeep of facilities at Rainbow Valley campground. I do not recommend you stay here.

We did the precious stones bags. It was a blast watching the kids pan out the dirt to uncover the stones. So much so that we adults also bought a bag of dirt to go through. We got a big chunk of Amethyst bigger than my fist. The staff was friendly and helpful and once we were setup, they left us to our own to have fun. They checked in on us and matched the kids excitement, which was awesome. We plan to return to camp here and maybe do the aerial climb as well.

The site was nice! I just have a little comment regarding parking, though it was already mentioned to my wife before we booked the site, a parking space would be convenient if it was on the site itself specially for small vehicles. But none the less, the experience was good. Staff was friendly.

My husband and I just spent this past weekend away in one of the new geodesic domes and had the most lovely time with our two dogs. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a pet-friendly dome!! Normally we have to kennel our girls and it's a big headache and takes away from the time away because we are worried about how they are doing and missing them. We stayed in the Rainbow Dome because it is pet-friendly but there is also the Gem Dome and the Snow Dome that is geared more towards couples (no pets) and families of up to 5. It was a really cool experience right in the heart of Edmonton and the high ceilings were nice and made it feel really big from the inside. Surprisingly it didn't feel like you were in the city at all with how quiet it was, yet we were a quick drive to food, shops, gas, and other attractions so it wasn't hard to keep busy either. There was a visitors guide in the dome which we found quite helpful considering we aren't familiar with Edmonton and haven't spent much time here. There were tons of suggestions for food, activities, and things that were close by. We were also very happy to find out that we could order Skip the Dishes right to the gate when we didn't want to drive anywhere! The decor in the dome was very on theme (Rainbow). Everything was bright and beautifully decorated, the fireplace surrounded with lots of comfortable seating made it so cozy! The queen sized bed was super comfortable and even had a heated mattress pad for those cold fall evenings. All the bedding was provided, I will say everything was very clean. I loved that there was a kitchenette equipped with a coffee machine, mini fridge/freezer, and even a dining table with four chairs. The washrooms were very clean and convenient with hot showers!! Definitely bring your own towels (I'm glad we did!) as they are not provided. We cooked a few meals over the campfire which was nice and I would recommend bringing all your own dishes, cooking utensils, pots/pans, cutlery, and cups as these are also not provided. We do a lot of camping so were very well prepared with everything we needed. Booking was super easy over the phone with Sharlene and Clay the security guard was wonderful and so helpful the entire weekend. Overall we had a wonderful time and were really happy with the time of year that we booked. The trees were all changing colour, we were nearly the only ones there (other than another couple in the dome next to us), and things were very quiet and relaxing.

We had the best time in the Snow Dome this past weekend! As a family of 5 with 3 young kids, this was the best way to have a camping weekend (from someone who doesn't camp...). We stayed dry in the rain and had comfortable beds to sleep in (the kids LOVED the bunk beds!). The facilities on the grounds were clean and easily accessible. And, there is no shortage of activities to do on the grounds or walking paths to explore just behind the campground. We loved the new mini-golf course and the kids had a blast finding gems and shark teeth in the mining activity, and the playgrounds were a hit! I would highly recommend a dome stay to couples or families with children of any age (whether you are a regular camper or not). We look forward to coming back soon and trying out the aerial park!
