Ramblers Rest RV Campground
Overview
Ramblers Rest RV Campground offers a classic Florida camping experience nestled along the banks of the Myakka River. As a well-established resort in the Thousand Trails network, it provides a scenic retreat where towering oak trees and Spanish moss create a peaceful, shaded atmosphere. This destination successfully balances the tranquility of nature with the comforts of a full-service RV resort, making it a popular choice for seasonal visitors and travelers looking for an authentic Florida landscape near the Gulf Coast.
Location & Surroundings
The campground is situated in Venice, Florida, uniquely positioned to provide both riverfront beauty and convenient proximity to the ocean. The scenic Myakka River serves as the park's centerpiece, offering a quiet waterway for paddling and wildlife viewing right from the property. While the park feels secluded and immersed in nature, it is only a short drive from the historic architecture and boutique shopping found in downtown Venice, offering the best of both worlds for those who enjoy both wilderness and urban amenities.
Amenities & Park Features
Visitors can enjoy a wide array of recreational facilities designed for both relaxation and active play. The park features a large heated swimming pool and a sun deck, perfect for cooling off throughout the year. For those who enjoy community sports, there are courts for pickleball and shuffleboard, as well as a miniature golf course for family fun. The park also provides a private boat ramp and a fishing pier, giving guests direct access to the river for fishing adventures or afternoon boat rides.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the park gates, the Venice area is famous for its unique coastal activities and natural wonders. A short trip to Caspersen Beach allows visitors to hunt for prehistoric shark teeth, a popular local tradition. Cyclists and hikers will enjoy the Legacy Trail, a paved path that winds through beautiful Florida scenery. For a deeper dive into the wild, the nearby Myakka River State Park offers expansive vistas, canopy walks, and airboat tours through one of the state's most diverse and preserved ecosystems.
Who This Park Is Best For
This resort is an ideal match for active retirees and families who appreciate a community-oriented environment with plenty of social engagement and planned activities. Because of its extensive river access and shaded sites, it is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy kayaking and birdwatching. If you prefer a lush, wooded setting over a standard parking lot layout, Ramblers Rest offers a comfortable home base that emphasizes the natural beauty and relaxed pace of the Florida Gulf Coast.

We stayed here for 35 days in our 40 ft. Motorhome. Site was level gravel. Full hook up. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were extremely clean and well kept. Grounds were maintained amd in excellent shape. They do have concrete pads at some sites.

We just spent two weeks with our Rv at Ramblers Rest. It was great. Staff was so nice and informative. Check-in was a breese. The pool area was so nice and clean. The sites were very spacious ours was shaded with beautiful trees. The fishing off the dock was great. The laundry room was the best I have used on the road. The bathroom/ shower are suites. So shower toilet sink all behind one door. Then there was the dog park. Our dogs loved going to the dog park to run and play. We cannot wait to come back. The only down side which is no ones fault is the road construction going to the resort. Trying to get out of there during rush hour was very difficult. Again not their fault. Hopefully by next visit it will be completed. Photo from dock on the river.

We had a wonderful stay at Ramblers Rest! The entire place is well-kept. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s a quiet and peaceful location, perfect for relaxing. The pool is absolutely beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!”

This mobile home/RV hybrid park tends to flood rather easily when it rains. The pool and amenities are very nice, but the sites need TLC. The layout is a circle, so driving or even walking through the park is cumbersome specialy after it rains. Entry into the park is on River Road which is still under construction for almost 5 years or so, this makes it tricky to get in and out of the park.

Amazing stay. Staff was amazing, park was clean, pool was great. They had a Memorial Day pool party that was free to those staying at the park. I am a Thousand Trails member and was treated very well, had a spot right next to my sister as asked. There is a boat dock for kayaks and fishing right on site Resort is close to many beaches and restaurants, close to downtown Venice. Perfect location. We will be back.
