Ramblewood Cabins & Campground

Overview

Ramblewood Cabins & Campground offers a quintessential North Woods experience in the heart of New Hampshire’s remote wilderness. This park caters specifically to those looking to disconnect from the frantic pace of city life and reconnect with the natural world. Set on a sprawling hillside overlooking Lake Francis, the atmosphere is deeply serene and unpretentious, making it a long-standing staple for outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate a traditional, woodsy camping environment. It provides a peaceful base for those who want to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty of the Great North Woods.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Pittsburg, which is the northernmost town in the state, the campground is surrounded by the vast and scenic Great North Woods. The park's proximity to the Connecticut Lakes and the headwaters of the Connecticut River provides a stunning backdrop characterized by dense forests and crystal-clear water. Travelers can enjoy the sight of majestic pines and frequent wildlife sightings, as moose and deer are often spotted wandering near the property boundaries, offering a true sense of seclusion from more developed regions.

Amenities & Park Features

The park offers a thoughtful mix of accommodations, including well-maintained cabins and RV sites equipped with water and electric hookups. While the primary focus remains on the surrounding natural beauty, guests have access to essential facilities such as a central bathhouse with hot showers, fire rings for evening social gatherings, and picnic tables at every site. The campground is notably pet-friendly, allowing travelers to bring their companions along to enjoy the mountain air. The layout is designed to prioritize the landscape, ensuring a rustic and authentic feel throughout the property.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

This northern region is a premier destination for those who love water sports and backcountry exploration. Visitors often spend their days fly fishing for brook trout in the nearby streams or exploring the miles of multi-use trails that crisscross the area. During the winter months, the park serves as a primary hub for snowmobile enthusiasts, providing direct access to a massive network of groomed trails. For summer visitors, kayaking on the Connecticut Lakes and hiking the local peaks are popular ways to explore the unique geography of this remote area.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is specifically tailored for travelers seeking a rugged and authentic outdoor experience rather than a modern luxury resort. It is a perfect match for avid anglers, hunters, and trail riders who want to be just steps away from their next wilderness adventure. If you value solitude and stars over high-speed internet and paved pads, this campground offers a genuine New England escape. It is ideal for families and solo travelers alike who want a quiet, nature-focused retreat in the heart of the White Mountains region.

Ramblewoods campground is perched up overlooking the lakes on the way to Moose Alley before the Canadian border. We stayed there in early October and the views were beautiful! Paul (owner) is a great guy. He leant me some orange blaze as I forgot mine and we were about to hike Covell Mtn trail right off the campground (in bird hunting season). Utilities were all fine and has a dump station. We were in an RV so campground toilets were not used.

We visited Ramblewood recently for four nights. We were in awe of the beautiful view of the lake and the mountains from our campsite. The sites are generously large and well maintained. The owner was kind and knowledgeable about the area, offering suggestions on things to do. Ramblewood offered a peaceful getaway and we look forward to visiting again someday.

Stopped here at the end of my 1300 mile Bike Tour and the scenery is stunning! Great location (right off the NEBDR) and the host let me use his garage to make small repairs to my bike. If you're in the area, definitely don't pass this place up if you need to camp.
