Ramona Oaks RV Resort

Overview

Ramona Oaks RV Resort offers a peaceful escape in the scenic foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains. Situated under a majestic canopy of ancient oak trees, this park provides a tranquil environment for travelers seeking to experience the rural side of San Diego County. Unlike the high-energy coastal parks, this resort emphasizes a relaxed, backcountry vibe that invites guests to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of inland Southern California. It is a true retreat for those who appreciate quiet evenings and star-filled skies.

Location & Surroundings

The resort is located just outside the town of Ramona, known as the Gateway to the Mountains. The landscape is defined by rolling hills, boulder outcrops, and expansive ranch lands. At an elevation of approximately 1,400 feet, the air is often clearer and crisper than at the coast. Visitors are surrounded by the Ramona Valley wine region, offering a Mediterranean climate that is perfect for outdoor exploration and relaxing under the shade of massive oaks that define the property.

Amenities & Park Features

Guests have access to a variety of recreation-focused amenities designed for long-term comfort or weekend getaways. The park features a large swimming pool and a clubhouse that serves as a community hub. Standard facilities include the following:

  • An on-site mini-golf course and playground for family fun.
  • Full hookup sites with 50-amp service for large rigs.
  • Horseshoe pits and convenient laundry facilities.

These features ensure a comfortable stay while maintaining a rustic, park-like atmosphere throughout the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts are perfectly positioned for adventure, with the famous Potato Chip Rock hike at Mt. Woodson just a short drive away. For a family outing, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is within easy reach. Travelers can also take a scenic drive to the historic gold-mining town of Julian to sample its famous apple pies. The surrounding area is also home to dozens of boutique wineries, making it an ideal destination for those who enjoy exploring local tasting rooms.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent choice for family vacationers and couples who prefer a quiet, natural setting over the bustle of the city. It is particularly well-suited for nature lovers and hikers who want a home base near the Cleveland National Forest. Loved the place and our spot but office was not present at all. No pamphlet like other times I had gone. Some of the amenties have not been upkept mini golf course was full of leaves and carpet coming off pool table was taped up and poles needed fixing. Golf clubs for the mini golf were stored in the office which was was never open the 3 days i was there. Mens bathrooms needed restock on toilet paper. The pool was amazing it was clean and upkept with many tables and chairs to use. Residents were nice and welcoming our site was great just needed better picnic tables.

Camped for 2 nights and want to list pros and cons: Pros: Location and scenery, easy access off of highway, friendly check in person, nice pool. Lots of trees. Cons: Other than the pool area ALL amenities are run down or falling apart. People in RV park are not friendly and I think it’s because the majority of the people live there. It definitely changes the vibe of the place. Fish pond, looks nice but did not see a single person fish (we did) but it was filled with algae. Hours aren’t conducive to fishing either: 10 am to 7 pm only. No picnic tables at the camp site. Many of the camping sites have no or limited shade. The best sites are taken by folks who live there full time. You get what is left over. I won’t be back and it’s a shame because this place has so much potential but it fallen to ruins. Very sad.

I've loved staying at RORV! The staff and management have been super friendly and very helpful whenever I've needed something, or shared a concern. The pool is well kept and the barn is air-conditioned and great for get togethers. They even have a little library. The park is in a wildlife area so there's lots of critters here, (rabbits, turtles, bullfrogs, tarantulas, rattlesnakes, bobcats) so watch your doggies. Very serene and peaceful. I would definitely recommend.

We are staying at this campground for four nights in a transient site. When we arrived on our site before we could even cook supper I had to wash the picnic table and will be glad to show a picture of how dirty it was. When we arrived at the campground, I actually had to ask for a map so we could find out where we were going to be staying. The office closes at 4 PM on Fridays and does not reopen again until Monday at 9 AM. I guess if you have a weekend emergency you’re out of luck. I would definitely not stay here again and if I could have turned around and easily got a refund, I would have.

Took a hike to the coyote den to visit my family...a 40 ft tree blocked the road, Pope landscape? Interesting
