Overview

Bridgeview Campground is a premier destination located on the scenic shores of Rathbun Lake, a massive reservoir often referred to as Iowa’s Ocean. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this park offers a serene escape for RVers seeking natural beauty and high-quality facilities. The park is well-known for its spacious layouts and stunning waterfront vistas, providing a tranquil environment where travelers can enjoy the sights and sounds of Southern Iowa’s rolling landscape.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just outside of Centerville, IA, Bridgeview sits on the southern edge of the 11,000-acre lake. The surrounding geography is a mix of heavy timber, lush grasslands, and rocky shorelines. This diverse habitat makes the area a hotspot for wildlife viewing, where it is common to spot white-tailed deer and various migratory birds. The park’s position provides a perfect sense of seclusion while remaining a short drive from local conveniences and historical sites.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is designed with modern RV needs in mind, featuring several level concrete pads that accommodate larger rigs with ease. Most sites offer 50-amp electrical hookups, and the park provides well-maintained shower houses and restrooms for guest comfort. Boaters benefit from direct lake access via on-site boat ramps and courtesy docks. Other park highlights include:

  • Spacious picnic areas with fire rings
  • A centrally located sanitary dump station
  • A designated swimming beach area
  • Playgrounds for younger travelers

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for visitors is the premier walleye and crappie fishing that Rathbun Lake is famous for. Beyond the water, the nearby Honey Creek State Park offers extensive hiking and biking trails that wind through the timber. For a change of pace, travelers can visit the historic Centerville town square to explore local boutiques and diners. Golfers will also find highly-rated courses within a short drive, making the area a versatile hub for outdoor recreation and leisure.

We stay here several times a year. The camp park attendant that has a little cart and drives around several times a day and night likes to be sneaky. He will take his motorcycle or trike out at night waiting for people to be out on their golf cart at the shower house. A bit much.
