Red Lodge

Overview

Red Lodge Provincial Park offers a tranquil escape for RVers seeking a mix of natural beauty and convenient access. Located just west of the town of Bowden, AB, this park is renowned for its lush greenery and riverside setting. It serves as a popular destination for those traveling through Central Alberta, providing a forested environment that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding open agricultural landscapes. The park is characterized by its large, well-shaded campsites that provide a true sense of immersion in nature.

Location & Surroundings

The park is nestled along the banks of the Little Red Deer River, creating a peaceful atmosphere defined by mature stands of spruce and balsam poplar trees. These trees provide significant shade and a degree of privacy between campsites that is often hard to find in prairie regions. While it is easily accessible from the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, the park feels secluded, offering a retreat where the sound of the flowing river and local birdlife are the primary focus for visitors.

Amenities & Park Features

Red Lodge provides a variety of services designed for comfortable RV stays. Many sites are equipped with power hookups, catering to modern campers, while communal water taps and a centralized dumping station are available for convenience. The park includes well-maintained washroom facilities featuring flush toilets and showers, ensuring a comfortable experience for long-term guests. Families often take advantage of the on-site playground and the numerous picnic areas scattered throughout the well-groomed grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The main draw for many visitors is the river itself, which is a local favorite for wading and floating in inner tubes during the warm summer months. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy birdwatching or easy strolls along the riverbank trails to observe local wildlife. For those looking to explore the local culture, the town of Bowden offers charming local shops, and the famous Pearson's Berry Farm is a short drive away, offering a variety of fresh produce and baked goods for a perfect afternoon outing.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for families and groups who enjoy spending their days outdoors by the water. It is perfectly suited for those who value a shaded, wooded environment that offers protection from the summer sun. Because of its serene atmosphere and proximity to major travel routes, it also serves as an excellent spot for nature lovers looking for a quiet multi-day stay that feels both rustic and well-supported by modern provincial park standards.

Clean cabins, well treed campground and spacious sites.. easy access to trails for ohv and equestrian. Over all, this place is a haven for those who love camping without sacrificing convient access to washrooms and showers.

Wendy was on top of firewood delivery. Prices were fantastic, location secluded like we wanted. Excellent and affordable spot for our family reunion with space for probably double what we had at a party of 60 people. Will definitely keep this on my radar for future large gatherings.

Beautiful location. Highly recommend this place. Fabulous group setting for a “glamping” type experience. Rooms and facilities are rustic but clean and generally well equipped and the service support was fantastic. Wasn’t sure how to rate the rooms because they are intended to be rustic type camping & that suited our needs just fine.

Amazingly cute and quaint. Cabins are kept clean and cool. The campgrounds are spacious and clean. Good for big parties such as weddings. May be Somewhat tricky to find if you dont know how to use GPS. Brunch was expensive but very delicious and the waitresses were such sweethearts!
