Reed Bingham

Overview

Reed Bingham State Park offers a serene escape in South Georgia, centered around a stunning 375-acre lake. Spanning both Cook and Colquitt counties, this destination provides a classic Georgia State Park experience where the diverse ecosystems of the Coastal Plain take center stage. Travelers will find a blend of pine forests and cypress-filled wetlands, making it a picturesque spot for both short stopovers and extended nature retreats.

Location & Surroundings

Located just off I-75 near Adel, GA, the park serves as a convenient yet quiet sanctuary for those traveling the North-South corridor. The surrounding area is characterized by agricultural fields and the winding Little River, which feeds the park's central reservoir. Despite its proximity to the highway, the deep woods provide a sound barrier, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere dominated by the sounds of local wildlife and whispering pines.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV campground features well-maintained sites equipped with water and electrical hookups, with many offering sewer connections for added convenience. Campers have access to modern bathhouses, a laundry facility, and a central dump station. Beyond the campsites, the park boasts a swimming beach, multiple picnic shelters, and a boat ramp, ensuring that visitors have all the essentials for a comfortable stay amidst the beautiful South Georgia landscape.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore seven miles of trails, including the Coastal Plain Nature Trail, where you might spot gopher tortoises and indigo snakes. The lake is a primary draw for fishing and kayaking, while the buzzard roost attracts birdwatchers looking for black and turkey vultures. For those wanting a taste of local culture, the nearby city of Adel offers charming local dining and easy access to basic shopping and supplies.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for families and nature lovers who prefer wildlife observation over high-octane resort activities. It is a perfect destination for birders, photographers, and those looking for a quiet, spacious environment to relax. Because of its location, it is also highly recommended for I-75 travelers looking for a more scenic and spacious alternative to commercial roadside RV parks.

Excellent campground. Well kept, spacious sites and clean restrooms. A couple of excellent trails for hiking. Georgia State Parks are great.

Nice little campground. Has sewer outlets! You can canoe, kayak and fish on the lake behind the dam. Has som walking trails. Only 6-7 miles from Wally world.

We only stayed one night. The campground and bath houses were very nice. We walked around by the lake. There are more trails that we would love to explore, next time.

As a former park ranger, this state park is embarrassing. The staff at the “visitor center” didn’t seem very confident or knowledgeable. The visitor center would probably do better being staffed by a ranger and not some high school aged kids. When asked about areas to see and walk they didn’t seem to know where to point us in the right direction. The facilities and signage are worn and are in need of repair. The markings on the roadway need to be repainted and the signs need to be reviewed for proper placement. The oddest part was a random traffic barrel thrown in the woods which had obviously been there for a while. Do the staff not walk the trails? Is equipment not accounted for and kept secure? How is a traffic barrel in the woods a part of nature?

A Beautiful park and camping! Very clean restrooms, clean park, great place to relax, fish, walk trails, and they even have miniature golf! Huge beautiful old trees draped with romantic Spanish moss. The staff is friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back and spend more time here!!!
