Take a twisty state road west out of Golden, CO to find this campground in Goöden Gaze Canyon State Park. Sitting at about 9,000‘ elevation it seems quite remote despite being close to the Denver metro area. Forested area, many RV and tent spots. If you come with a big rig try to reserve a pull through site as some of the back in sites are a little short and trees obstruct access. Our site was electric only though potable water and a dump station are near the campground entrance. Overlook nearby with beautiful views (see photo). Surprising but not annoying: airliner noise as westbound aircraft climb out of Denver airport which is about 25 miles to the east.

This is an impeccably well maintained campground. The staff is very dedicated to ensuring all visitors. Have a great time. We loved the density of trees around our site. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hang up a hammock, so that was a bummer, but loving the outdoors as much as we do, we understand.

We’ve camped here every year for the past three years and there are a ton of pros: big campsites, good hiking (Raccoon Trail), nice bathroom facilities, awesome ranger programs (especially the raptors). But I’ve noticed the absolute lack of camping etiquette increasing each year and it’s really putting a damper on the experience — nothing against the campground itself, just warning others. This past weekend there was a campsite absolutely blasting music from 11pm-2am. I would have asked them to turn it down (as I have done in the past when this happens with no issues) but the campsite was far away in another loop and I assumed someone in the 30+ closer campsites would have done so, but no luck. There were also people shouting well after quiet hours the previous night, so it’s safe to say that not a lot of sleep was had. I have no problem with kids running around the campground, but kids running THROUGH our campsite multiple times with no parental supervision is not ok. Just disappointed in how people are ruining the camping experience for others without a care in the world. But I guess this is what you get with a campground so close to Denver.

I’ve never left a poor review of a campground but unfortunately my stay in ADA Yurt 1 was not the best. It was dirty and multiple parts were broken (see photos). There was a blood-like stain on the wall next to the bed where you put your head; the window wouldn’t open without the handle coming unattached from the frame; the manual said there were cleaning supplies in the cabinet to clean with before checking out, but there were none; one of the only three light bulbs was out; a railing post cap was completely unattached; a piece of sharp metal was protruding out of the ground next to the walkway by the picnic table; there was trash strewn about outside (maybe from melting snow); there was no hand sanitizer or soap in the bathrooms at the main building by the amphitheater. I debated leaving this review because the park is so wonderful and I support our state parks, but I’m hoping it’ll help future guests who are paying to stay there.

Lovely campground in the mountains not far from Denver. Lots of hiking options and great views from panorama point. No cell coverage at all for Verizon. 5 loops for campers with electric and a lot of tent camping sites. Reservations are required in advance
