My husband and I just returned from a vacation where we stayed at Ridgway State Park. This park is amazing. It is so well maintained and the people working at the park are super friendly and helpful. We drove from Texas and usually travel through Gunnison. However, a bridge is out on Hwy 50. We drove across New Mexico, and the roads were herendous. We came up through Cortez and Dolores and entered from the back side of the park to avoid driving our 5th wheel on the Million Dollar HWY. We did take an alternate route home, which took us on 160, and we cut through to Albuquerque. This shortened the time we had to drive in NM. We highly recommend staying here. It is very popular. We barely got a reservation almost 5 or 6 months in advance. It is like Texas Parks. You have to get online at midnight the day the reservation window opens. We enjoy fishing, and we did have to pay 100.00 for two 5-day fishing licenses. Part of the cost includes a habitat fee. I believe the license was 38.00 dollars. We stayed in the Pacochpuk loop with full RV hookups for 6 nights. There are beautiful fishing ponds in the loop and access to the river. You can buy firewood bundles for 6 dollars and ice from the super friendly camp hosts. We did not need to buy ice, but it was 3 dollars. I do not know the size. You do check in at your respective campground loop when you arrive. I attached a few photos, but the beauty of this place was such an amazing gift from our Lord above.

Such a nice state park with 3 sections to enjoy. We loved the lake & beach with beautiful mountain backdrop! The playground was top notch, complete with giant slide the kids all loved. Camping available, but we just stayed for the day. Will definitely trying campsites here next time!

Gorgeous and Clean! If you're looking for a primitive campground, this is anything but that. There are paved roads and parking places for campers. The views from the park and the lake are outstanding, it's quite a beautiful and well maintained park. From hiking trails, rivers, a good sized lake, bike trails, even playgrounds if you have little ones.
