Upper loop doesn't have many trees and is very open. It looks more desert like. The lower loop has all the great trees, many sites have amazing river access. Be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes. There seems to be a swampy area near sites 22 and 23 near the trash cans that produces these pesky biters. Sam, the camp host does an amazing job at keeping the sites clean and friendly. The bathrooms are very clean and well stocked. If you run out of supplies, there is a small and friendly mercantile about 5 minutes from the campground for you to stock up on what you need, including your fishing license(cash only). We did not see much wildlife other than chipmunks, occasionally we saw a deer on the other side of the river and a couple fisherman saw a bear come down to fish on one of the river islands.

We were in the lower loop, fair amount of mosquitoes but amazing views by the river

Very clean campground. Sites on the lower loop were right on the Conejos River. Beautiful.

Beautiful camping area! We were in the lower loop, and had a nice private spot. There were a lot of mosquitos but it was well worth being next to the river that our kids really enjoyed playing in.

The camping spaces are large with easy pull through access for most of them. It has enough trees to keep the sun off of you but few enough that you can get sun if you want. The canp ground host keeps the bathrooms clean. It was a fun experience.

Great campsite with a varied layout for campsites, a few sites are pretty close together so be mindful on busy weekends/holidays. Great river sounds at all the lower sites. Host is super nice and knowledgeable on the area, would recommend it for it's proximity to so much southern Colorado has to offer.

Will not be back. I don't understand the high rating and good reviews. The place could be nice with some basic grounds keeping and maintenance, but it was very junky looking around our site. They parked us right in front of their storage/utility building where there was all kinds of junk placed haphazardly. Also junk in back of us against another building. We were right next to a small creek with stagnant, standing water, so mosquitos were so bad we couldn't be outside. They should have treated for mosquitos. The wifi password I was given did not work. The only positive is that we had sewer hookup and did not have a to go dump. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Great place. There is a upper and a lower campsites. We stayed in the upper to stay away from the mosquitos by the river. The camp is well kept with a camp host on site. Mid July the water in the river was low. Days were hot but cooled nicely by morning. No hookups as $20 per night. Nice level pads and a fire pit. Look for the shady spots. Oh and dog friendly.
