Great location not far off main highway. Was disappointed that the on-site restaurant was alrwady closed for the season. I also didn't remember reading that there were no sewer hookups at sites. That could be an oversize on my part. It was a beautiful location and we enjoyed the one night we spent there.

I stayed here while riding the Empire State Trail. It seems more suited to seasonal campers but has some primitive sites for tents. There was water but no electricity. Be aware that the showers and washrooms are a fair distance from the tent sites. The manager was friendly and attentive.

Good afternoon I am redoing my review for River Forest Campground because of what just happened I stayed there. I arrived on August 14 and was asked to leave August 15 at 10:20 the owner came up to my trailer and said obviously we cannot accommodate you so we appreciate if you leave check out is at 11 so I quickly packed up and left as I was leaving. I stopped by the office and I asked the owner to give me a handwritten receipt he refused to do it then I said he goes. Our printer does not work so I said we'll just write it. He would not do it so meanwhile, he told me the Camping app that I use would refund my money will they do not I called the one 800 number. The owner has to refund my money so it's been over a week. I have not heard from the owner and I have not got any money back and they owe me $100. You can't trust what people say. I would not recommend this Campground at all. wish me good luck and if you watch my Facebook live video you can see why I did a negative post my name is linda ford . I have nothing to hide

We had a great time this past weekend tent camping. The site was level with water and a picnic table riverside which was great. Check in was a breeze, friendly staff. The bar on site was so much fun and they had a live band. Only downside was that the bathrooms are a bit of a walk from the tent sites but you can drive there. Grounds were clean. All in all I don't understand some of the negative reviews.

This is our first year at this campground and were blown away by the kindness of the owners, Janet and Kevin. After a ton of rain for weeks, the river began to rise quickly and we found ourselves in a really tough spot with no one to help us move our camper. Without hesitation, the owners jumped into action. They offered personally helped us move everything to higher ground before the situation got worse. Their help quite literally saved the day for us. It's not every day you come across people who care this much—not just about their campground, but about their guests' safety and well-being. The campground itself is beautiful, clean, and peaceful. We can’t thank them enough. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe and welcoming place to stay!

We have been seasonal campers now for 6 years. The new owners have been great! They have completing upgrades to the water and electrical service along with the roads and added a new pool and playground. The owners and staff also do a great job keeping the entire campgrounds looking great. We have never had a problem with the owners of staff. They have always been very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a seasonal site or a place to camp on weekends I recommend Riverforest very highly.

We have been at this campground seasonally for many years! We camped with the previous owners and the current owners. So many upgrades have been made to this campground. New pool, better roads, ice cream shop, and too many more things to list. The campground is more secure and safer than it’s ever been which we appreciate as parents and grandparents! Current owners are very accommodating and take pride in the campground. We will be seasonal here for the foreseeable future as we love it here! Give it a try you won’t be disappointed!

We now have a permanent site there.....the new owners are doing what needs to be done to put Riverforest back on the map!

Good place for a short stay. No septic but they do have someone that will pump u out on Wednesdays and Saturdays for $10. Pool needs updating but was clean. They could use some chairs poolside. Not too bad a campground in all.

My family and I camp here at least 3 times a year because we enjoy the campground and the people. The owner is super super nice and welcoming. The pool is centrally located so it doesn't matter where you camp it's a short walk away. The bathroom/shower rooms are clean and the water is nice and hot. Bring your kayaks and fishing poles! You're right on the river with dock access! Theres also a centrally located fishing pond for catch and release!! Most all the sites this year (2021) have gone to permanent but the over night sites are nice. The restaurant is awesome with great food and live bands throughout the summer so when you're there check it out! Golf carts are allowed here so if you have one bring it and take a ride around the campground. Near the pool, fishing pond and restaurant is a basketball court and playground with another playground on the other end of the campground so bring the kids and enjoy a weekend here.

Just signed up for a seasonal site. We have been camping here off and on for years. After camping at other campgrounds, we decided to make this our permanent summer home & get away. The big attraction for us was that the kids loved here and with a bar that has bands on the weekends, we loved it here too! The people here are very friendly and the owners and staff obviously work very hard to keep everyone happy. Might have to buy a boat now too so we can enjoy the river as well. Highly recommend this place
