New owners a year ago, running a previously great campground into the ground. Messed up a camping reservation, then ran out of cheese for the pizzas two weekends in a row, then ran out of dough for the pizza. Camp at your own risk, but definitely don't depend on getting food from the kitchen/store.

The campground has a pond, pool, and river for enjoying the water. The bathrooms could use some updating. We enjoyed fishing and kayaking. They have horseshoes, cornhole, a basketball court, and activities for the kids.

My Family and i stayed for a week, this was our first time camping there because we like to go somewhere new every year. False advertisement to say the least. Camping in tents.. we got the group site. By the time we got set up and situated the store was closed at 6 so we couldnt get wood. Bathrooms were clean for the most part upon arrival. Our first morning woken up at 830 by a tractor grading the whole park.. for over an hour. The group sites are right next the bathrooms which is convenient but comes with alot of traffic. A worker on a gator back a forth most of our stay. Campers walking through sites, even had numerous campers walk right through our site. One of the nights around midnight a drunk lady walked right in our camp and started talking to my teen daughter. The pavilion was a great host for all teens smoking and listening to music from 10p-3a very loudly (im all for kids being kids, but this was just disrespectful) there was no patrol at all after office hours. The week i understand.. but the weekend was packed and there was still no one in "uniform" checking on things. Definitely seemed more like a party campground vs a family campground. THE SITES.. are the smallest we have ever stayed on!! We got the "group" site thinking 3 tents was ok.. well on DAY 3 we were asked to take one down. Only 2 sleeping units per site. Which was super frustrating with 3 kids, 2 dogs and 3 adults. Our fire wood kept popping, so bad that hots flew up on my lap caught my lap blanket on fire and melted my chair. The showers.. pressure was awesome. Temperature was like a luke warm, and you better pray no one else is showering, then it gets colder. There is mold in every single stall. I always take bleach spray because of previous experiences, so i obviously used it and cleaned the shower before using it. The hot water in the sink is so hot it will melt your skin.. so thats good for dishes i guess. The floor does get slippery with humidity. The fans they have in the bathrooms are good fans, but were so dirty and dusty no air was going through them. It was so bad i literally took the toilet brush and cleaned the shop fan hanging from the ceiling and a paper towel for the small one on the floor. Figured at least it would be some what dry during our stay. While using the bathroom i notice the stall walls are pretty gross, a booger hung out one our whole stay.. and is probably still there. Bathrooms could definitely use a good deep clean, and update. Shower curtains are barley hanging on. I usually have at least one load of laundry to do because i have a toddler, asked front desk and they told me one washer worked and one didn't. Well a washer stole my money because.. the both were broken so obviously didnt try the dryers. The pond is nice.. but the little fish do bite.. so the toddler prefered swimming in the pool and catching the little fish with bread in the pond. My teens didnt pay and wore there own life jackets down the slide because we were never told any different. Definitely wouldnt recommend tubing until the river rises.. honestly dont think the should be allowing campers to tube until in does rise. Our 3 hour tubing trip, turned into a 5 1/2 hour walking the river trip. Thank goodness we got river shoes, we wouldnt have made it. Trying to fish is a joke. They need more things for kids during the week, and a space for dogs.. there were sooo many dogs. And no designated area for dogs. With all that... id say we definitely wont be back. If you do choose to go, be prepared.

Camped over the weekend and while this is a very nice campground something has changed this year. There were a bunch of teens running office that seemed to be more interested in talking and hanging out instead of working. On Friday evening my wife and I ordered pizzas, I notice after 25 minutes there was no one in the kitchen and our pizzas were just sitting on the rack outside the oven. I went into the store portion and all the teens were gathered around talking and having a great time, I asked about my pizza and they side the timer hadn't gone off to which I responded that they are done and have been sitting outside the oven for at least 5 minutes. The worker final came back and just gave us the pizza like it was an imposition. The pizzas were cold btw so they had been out a while. For paying $25 for two 9 inch pizzas that is pretty bad. On Saturday my wife went back to order some food and they said they were out of wings, fries, and just about everything else...poor planning. We did go back for ice cream and like another reviewer said there is no care for health codes...the kid wiped his hands on the front of his shorts and scoped the ice cream, no washing of hands...no supervision. The health department would have a field day with what is going on in there. There needs to be some leadership with the staff working there. My son and wife said the bathrooms were a complete mess as well. The grounds are nice, but no one is doing any work, they are hanging around but not doing they people owning this campground any favors.

We camped at River Ridge Family Campgrounds this weekend as we have for the past 5 years. We always book the following year before leaving to guarantee our site/date, unfortunately that wasn't the case this year. Upon arrival at check-in we were asked our name, paid our remaining balance and given our car pass and the kid said you're all set. No map or notified of events taking place over the weekend. Thankfully I knew what site we were going to. Just started out unwelcoming. The cafe on site is decently priced but staff is lacking in safe serve food handling. The staff member got ice cream on their hand while making a cone and licked it off their hand anf then hands me the ice cream cone. Yuck! Ice cream was extra soft serve due to high temperatures in building. Another incident was with a different staff member wearing gloves to dish ice cream ( good job) but then unfortunately moved to the next customer handling cash and going back to food prep without changing their gloves. Yuck! Flowerbeds are not kept up, lots of weeds in them. Pool used to be nice but tiles are falling off and flappers for the filters are missing. Clearly not skimming the pool for bugs and tree debris. Hot tub water was green. Gate to enter the park was missing and nobody was manning the gate to ensure only those that should be there were there. This is a safety issue. Campgrounds appears to be ran by a bunch of teenagers without proper adult supervision and guidance. Definitely a lack of customer service skills. Treated as we were an inconvenience as they were all sitting around hanging out in the office. This used to be one of our favorite Campgrounds but the new owners clearly are not keeping up the high standards of the previous owners. If they continue with how it was this weekend, this place will get ran back in the ground.
