Riverside Resort

Overview

Riverside Resort offers a classic Vancouver Island experience tucked away in a lush, forested setting along the banks of the Little Qualicum River. This destination balances the rugged beauty of the West Coast with modern resort conveniences, making it a staple for travelers exploring the region. Whether you are arriving in a large motorhome or a compact camper van, the park provides a sense of seclusion while remaining conveniently close to the community amenities of Qualicum Beach.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just a short drive from the stunning sandy shores of the Salish Sea, the resort is defined by its prime coastal forest location. The park is nestled under a canopy of mature evergreens, offering a cool, shaded retreat during the warm summer months. Being located in the heart of the Parksville-Qualicum Beach area means travelers have easy access to scenic coastal highways and the diverse ecological wonders of central Vancouver Island.

Amenities & Park Features

The resort is well-equipped with full hookup RV sites, including 30 and 50-amp electrical options to suit various rig sizes. Families and long-term travelers appreciate the variety of on-site recreational features, including:

  • A seasonal swimming pool and splash park for summer cooling.
  • An 18-hole professional mini-golf course located right on the property.
  • Clean washrooms, laundry facilities, and a general store for daily essentials.

The river access provides a peaceful spot for morning strolls or simply enjoying the natural sounds of the flowing water near your campsite.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Exploring the local area is a highlight for most guests staying at the resort. The iconic Coombs Old Country Market, world-famous for the goats living on its sod roof, is just a few minutes away by car. Nature enthusiasts should not miss Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park to view dramatic waterfalls and deep mountain canyons. Of course, spending time at the beach is essential, where low tide reveals wide sandy flats perfect for beachcombing.

Who This Park Is Best For

This resort is an ideal choice for active families who want a mix of outdoor adventure and organized recreation. It appeals to RVers looking for a basecamp that feels like a traditional summer camp rather than a standard parking lot. Those who appreciate a wooded, natural environment over a manicured urban setting will find this location particularly rewarding for their Vancouver Island road trip.

I was here with my family over Halloween. We very much enjoyed the exiting fire work show, and the staff and community were great. Not to mention the lovely murals and fabulous mini putt. We would absolutely love to return :)

Overall our experience was pleasant, however, im not sure how the math added up at the end. I was told on Sunday our hydro bill would be 54 dollars, when we left on tuesday, it had jumped to 87 dollars...🤔 We had paid 485 to have the spot held for us when we moved in and expected 485 when we left but somehow recieved only 450...🤔 Our girls made alot of friends and had a good time, most of the front desk people were very pleasant and kind, same with the people that took care of the yards and their kids, although it would've been nice if the men's shower had been fixed in the month we had stayed. All in all, besides bad math, we made a few friends

I stayed at Riverside Resort on October 31st for our Halloween vacation, and it was wonderful! The cabin was perfect, clean, and very comfortable. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and welcoming, and the housekeeping team was incredibly helpful with everything we needed. On Halloween night, they even held a fireworks display for about 15 minutes — it was absolutely fantastic! I had such a great experience and will definitely be coming back again. :)

I recently stayed here for two nights with my family and our trailer. The Positives: Mini Golf – The course was fun and complimentary (included with the stay), which allowed us to enjoy multiple rounds. Convenience Store – Well stocked with a wide variety of food, snacks, and essentials for anything you may have forgotten at home. Staff – Every staff member we encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Water Slides – A great feature that our kids thoroughly enjoyed. Family Atmosphere – The campground has a strong family-friendly environment. Children were constantly biking throughout the park, although at times it felt concerning due to vehicles backing up with kids riding behind them. Location – Situated along the ocean in Qualicum, making it easy to access nearby communities. The Negatives: Pool – Unfortunately, the pool was in very poor condition. It was extremely dirty, with visible debris floating throughout, and also uncomfortably cold despite being advertised as heated. Even after checking the following morning, it had not been cleaned and remained in the same unsanitary state. Because of this, we avoided using the pool as much as we had originally planned. Campsite Privacy – The site we were assigned offered no privacy. There were no fences, trees, or bushes separating sites, and with private cabins located in the middle of the campground, it created more of a “parking lot” atmosphere. Mini Golf Maintenance – While enjoyable, the course is in need of upkeep (for example, many lights were not functioning, leaving some holes in complete darkness). Overall Impression: Our family still made the best of our stay, but given the price point, we felt the experience did not reflect good value. Unfortunately, we would not plan to return.

We had a fun stay here! We brought our camper and stayed in the site closest to the pool. We had a surprising amount of privacy for how open the site seemed. The sweet neighbour (a resident??) brought us fresh baked cookies each day! Even though it was overcast and chilly our kids spent 6-8 hours in the pool each day of our stay. The lifeguards were fun! They did a great job at enforcing rules without shaming the kids. As a parent, I really appreciated that balance. We went to the store multiple times per day, it’s well stocked and not over priced as some campground convenience stores can be. We drove to the beach for sunset each night and it was STUNNING. QB has great ocean beach combing. Showers were good and hot. Would just suggest more hooks in all the shower areas or shelving? We will return 🙂 would love to check out the cabins next time.
