I would give 10 plus stars if i could. This is the most amazing place to camp. Christine is an amazing woman. The campers who frequently stay are also phenomenal. Townsend itself has restored my faith in humanity. If you are ever in Tennessee you've got to stay at Riverside Campgrounds. It's a place you'll never want to leave. Or at the very least come to every time you visit Tennessee. Dogs are welcome. Hot showers and great views of the mountains. The river and water fall really puts this place in a league of its own.

Beautiful campground. Clean restrooms/bath houses. Everyone is like family. Christina is amazing! She makes sure everyone feels at home. The river is so relaxing. If you are looking for a laid back place, this is it! Don't expect amenities, like pools or stores; it's not that kind place. The river is your pool.

During the week, it was quiet and relaxing right on the river front. Small campground with separate tent area. Manager very friendly and accommodating. All sites are full hookup. Most riverfront sites are smaller and won't allow for big rigs. There are sites that will. This campground does not have amenities for children except the river. It's a lovely spot if you like a little extra room. You're not packed in like sardines like the other campgrounds in the area. Prices are more than reasonable, you pay a bit more to be on the riverfront. It's close to all the town attractions.

We are road tripping and staying somewhere new every night, we have met several nice people at campgrounds and this one was unfortunately the worst. The place was completely empty (except for some people that seem to be living in the tent area which was a little unsettling but the guy was nice) and we were tenting. Instead of accommodating us they still wanted to charge us the RV price to stay in our own tent in an RV spot, even if we weren’t using power. Other campgrounds that are completely vacant have been more than welcoming and accommodating. The fire rings were completely filled with thick wet mud and ashes to the brim, we had to clean our own out which was pounds and pounds of that stuff to even start a fire. The tenting is shoved in the back corner, very crowded close spots if you are looking for space between this wouldn’t be the spot for you. The campground has done zero maintenance it seems on its campsites, and the bathrooms were not clean. Just an overall disappointing experience. We sadly see why no one was staying there when all the other campgrounds were full. There is no lights on the sign to see at night trying to find the place. Picnic tables were falling apart. The river was beautiful though I must say. The water flowing down was very very loud but that was okay with us, if you are looking for quiet I wouldn’t suggest that spot for tenting. Overall will not return. The owner or manager should put forth more care for their establishment.

Let me start by saying, the office staff was very very nice! We have a 26 foot 5th wheel. My husband and I stayed at site#18. It was very nice to hear the waterfall, the water was crystal clear, site had plenty of room. It was very quiet, peaceful and very enjoyable. However, a few opportunities for the owner, the picnic tables are very very old, frankly should be replaced. We didn't even use ours as we were afraid they would break or get splinters. The other big issue was the signage is not lite up at night, so it was very difficult to find the driveway at night. It's very dark! We would definitely return but it would be nice to see a bit more upgrades.
