Robert H Treman
Overview
Robert H. Treman State Park offers a ruggedly beautiful escape into the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Known for its dramatic gorge and twelve distinct waterfalls, this park provides a scenic backdrop for RVers who value natural beauty over commercial resort-style luxuries. It is a place where the sound of rushing water and the deep shade of ancient hemlocks define the camping experience, making it a peaceful retreat for outdoor lovers.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just a few miles south of Ithaca, NY, the park feels worlds away from the city while remaining conveniently close to local conveniences. The landscape is dominated by Enfield Glen, a massive gorge carved by the creek over thousands of years. The surrounding area is quintessential New York wilderness, featuring steep shale cliffs, winding stone staircases, and lush hardwood forests that transform into a vibrant tapestry of color during the autumn months.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground caters to RV travelers with a selection of electric hookup sites, though many spots remain unserviced for a more traditional experience. Essential facilities include clean restrooms, hot showers, and a centrally located dump station for waste management. One of the most unique features is the stream-fed swimming area at the base of Lower Falls, which includes a diving board and lifeguards during the summer season, providing a refreshing break for campers.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Hiking is the primary draw here, with the Rim Trail and Gorge Trail offering spectacular views of the massive 115-foot Lucifer Falls. Beyond the park gates, visitors are minutes away from the vibrant culture of Ithaca, the shores of Cayuga Lake, and numerous Finger Lakes wineries. Other nearby destinations, such as Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls State Park, allow for a complete tour of the region's famous waterfalls and glacial landscapes.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal fit for nature enthusiasts and active travelers who enjoy photography and challenging hikes. It is perfect for RVers who prefer a rustic atmosphere and do not mind the absence of full sewer hookups in exchange for direct access to one of the state's most stunning natural landmarks. Families looking for a classic outdoor summer vacation will find the unique swimming hole and wooded sites especially memorable.

Well worth the hike to see the upper falls! Take the gorge trail to see the best view of the upper falls. It is a nice hike with lots of stairs, tree roots and rocks. There are about 100 steps when you get Close to the point with the best views... But worth the hike!

Not a popular state parks so we came here with less expectations and were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful hikes. Gorge trail was pretty flat hike. Lots of waterfalls to see till the 115 ft Lucifer falls. We saw folks taking the rim trail too to view the Lucifer falls from the viewing deck. Trail to the swimming hole Enfield Glen falls has a pretty flat trail. Not very crowded too. But swimming was closed when we reached at 4 pm. Folks can take the trail from the lower to the upper entrance but we drove as they have parking lots in both places.

We went here on a weekday. Pretty quite and less crowded on a weekday. The Gorge trail was little treacherous but it was worth it. A great view of the waterfalls. Make sure you do this hike on a pleasant weather. Sunny day might kill you

Absolutely amazing Park!!! The waterfalls are just amazing! And it's absolutely beautiful and you can actually swim in a couple of the waterfall pools underneath the fall. Only when an approved lifeguard is there if you have children. absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend that you make that a definite stop when exploring.
