Roberts Creek (Marion County Park)
Overview
Roberts Creek Park offers a serene escape within the rolling landscape of Marion County, Iowa. Managed by the local conservation board, this expansive park surrounds the 300-acre Roberts Creek Lake, providing a quieter alternative to the bustling nearby reservoirs. Travelers will find a well-maintained environment that prioritizes natural beauty and outdoor recreation, making it a staple for those exploring the heart of the Midwest throughout the year.
Location & Surroundings
Located just outside of Otley and a short drive from Pella, the park is perfectly positioned for those who enjoy water-centric landscapes. The area is characterized by lush woodlands and prairie vistas that frame the water's edge. Because it sits adjacent to the much larger Lake Red Rock, visitors enjoy easy access to massive water systems while returning to the more intimate and sheltered setting of Roberts Creek for their evening campfire under the stars.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features two distinct campgrounds, known as the North and South units, offering a variety of accommodations for RVers. Most sites provide 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups, ensuring comfort for modern rigs of all sizes. Facilities include modern restrooms, pressurized water stations, and a convenient dump station for guests. For recreation, the park provides multiple boat ramps and fishing piers, along with large playground areas and open green spaces for family activities.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Anglers frequent the lake for its abundance of crappie and channel catfish, while the calm waters are ideal for kayaking. Just minutes away, the charming town of Pella offers a unique cultural experience with its Dutch heritage and famous bakeries. Nature enthusiasts can also explore the nearby Volksweg Trail or head to the Lake Red Rock Dam for bird watching and expansive scenic overlooks that define this beautiful region of Iowa.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for families and fishing enthusiasts who prefer a relaxed pace over a high-energy resort atmosphere. It appeals to RVers who value spacious sites and the quietude of a county park. It is a fantastic choice for those visiting Pella who want to stay in a natural lakeside setting rather than a standard roadside lot, offering a true sense of Iowa’s outdoor character and hospitality to every traveler.

Very nice campgrounds clean and quiet but in all honesty I am here during the week not the weekend. The only issue is have is too many people with animals off leash.

Highly recommend! The East campground has fantastic views and large campsites. The West campground was nice but wooded and smaller sites. We came on a Thursday around 6:00 and grabbed the last non-reservable site.
