Rockwood Park
Overview
Rockwood Park Campground offers a unique camping experience situated within one of Canada's largest urban parks. Located in the heart of Saint John, New Brunswick, this destination provides a rare opportunity to enjoy the rugged beauty of the Acadian forest without leaving the city limits. It serves as a primary gateway for RVers exploring the Bay of Fundy region, offering a serene environment that contrasts beautifully with the bustling port city nearby.
Location & Surroundings
The park is strategically positioned within 2,200 acres of diverse terrain, including rolling hills, lakes, and dense forests. Despite its central location, the campground feels secluded and peaceful. It sits atop a hill, providing scenic views and easy access to the city’s major thoroughfares. The surrounding area is part of the Stonehammer UNESCO Global Geopark, making it a significant geological site where travelers can witness billion-year-old rock formations right from their campsite.
Amenities & Park Features
Travelers will find well-maintained facilities designed for modern RV needs. The campground features full-hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp service, accommodating various rig sizes. Visitors can take advantage of the following features during their stay:
- Clean restroom and shower facilities
- On-site laundry and convenient dump station
- Access to thirteen freshwater lakes and boat rentals
The larger park complex also hosts a public golf course and a licensed restaurant just a short walk from the campsites.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The central location makes it easy to explore Saint John’s most iconic landmarks. A short drive takes you to the famous Reversing Falls Rapids, where the Bay of Fundy tides force the Saint John River to flow backward. Visitors also frequent the historic Saint John City Market and the vibrant uptown core for dining and shopping. For those seeking more outdoor adventure, the park itself offers kayak rentals and supervised swimming beaches during the summer months.
Who This Park Is Best For
Rockwood Park is an ideal choice for active families and urban explorers who want the best of both worlds. It suits travelers who appreciate having nature trails at their doorstep while remaining close to grocery stores, museums, and city entertainment. Because it offers big-rig friendly pull-through sites, it is also an excellent home base for long-haul RVers looking for a comfortable and accessible stopover while touring the beautiful province of New Brunswick.

I read the reviews about the water and that didn’t bother us, after speaking to the people at check-in. We learned that the city doesn’t test the water at this RVers park but the company that runs the park has it tested. The test results are there for anyone to look at.

Very unique campground mostly for RV's but we got a nice tent site. Nestled in the heart of a big industrial town. Got in late for a tent site and it was a bit hard to find, reflective signs would have made it a little easier. Facilities are dated but gets the job done!

We were there from August 30th to Sept. 6 and it was quiet, loved being close to amenities and visiting family members. The campsite next to us was a tent with 4 young adults who left the next morning. They did leave their garbage bag on the campsite and some garbage on the lot. When a young worker drove by when I was walking my dog I did let her know and she took care of it right away. I would go back

Won't be returning and wouldn't recommend! Spent one night here with my grandchildren in our rv while on our way to Ontario and left as soon as we could the next morning. A sad and run down unkempt place, how it's open and in operation is beyond my understanding. Might have been nice 20 years ago but not now. The water is not safe to drink, multiple garbage cans were overflowing all thru out the area. Grass looked like it hadn't been looked after or mowed in months and the buildings are in rough shape. Our site had good wifi signal but was garbage/liquor bottles I had to dispose of on arrival. The main driveway entrance road is falling apart into a ditch making entry and especially exit with a large rv/ trailer very dangerous. The place seems to be run and managed by summer students who are friendly and nice but lacking in everything else except smiles

Absolutely nightmare! Worst campground I ever camped! Dog shit smell all over makes you lose all the appetite of picnic. Garbage everywhere on the camp site. Total two washrooms on the whole camp but one is closed for maintenance. Even in the only opening washroom one cell is out of order. Shower room cell is so small I can’t even bent down or straight my arms. Don’t have enough space to get dressed without getting you clothes wet. Near factory and train real way lots of noise at night. Last not the least, price is $50 per night, almost double of other park campgrounds. I highly recommend NOBODY comes here.
