Rogue River-Siskiyou/Quosatana Campground

Overview

Quosatana Campground offers a tranquil retreat deep within the stunning Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Situated along the banks of the legendary lower Rogue River, this forest service gem provides an authentic rustic experience for those looking to disconnect from the modern world. It is widely recognized for its expansive river access and lush, heavily shaded campsites that provide a refreshing escape during the warmer summer months. This tranquil retreat serves as a gateway to the wild beauty of the Oregon coast range, perfect for those seeking solitude in nature.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away roughly 14 miles upriver from the coastal town of Gold Beach in Agness, OR, the park is surrounded by ancient myrtlewood trees and towering Douglas firs. The journey along the winding Jerry Flat Road is incredibly scenic, setting the stage for a remote wilderness adventure far from the noise of the highway. The rhythmic sound of the flowing river is a constant companion, offering a peaceful and meditative backdrop to the dense forest canopy that characterizes this unique part of the Pacific Northwest landscape.

Amenities & Park Features

As a dedicated Forest Service campground, the amenities are intentionally simple to preserve the natural environment. The park provides several essential features for a comfortable dry-camping stay:

  • A paved boat launch suitable for various types of river watercraft
  • Multiple potable water pumps located throughout the loops for visitor use
  • Level campsites featuring a paved parking pad and a heavy-duty fire ring

While visitors should note there are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups, the sites are spacious and offer excellent privacy. Each spot includes a picnic table for outdoor dining under the forest canopy.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for many visitors is the world-class fishing for chinook salmon and steelhead throughout the changing seasons. Boaters take advantage of the easy water access for exhilarating jet boat trips or serene kayaking excursions down the river. For those who prefer land, several hiking trails wind through the wild and scenic river corridor, offering sightings of osprey, bald eagles, and black bears. The nearby community of Agness offers a chance to experience the famous Rogue River mail boats and local hospitality.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is perfectly suited for self-contained RVers who prioritize a quiet, nature-focused atmosphere over the amenities of a luxury resort. It is an absolute haven for dedicated anglers and rafters who require direct river access and a secluded home base for their aquatic adventures. If you thrive while boondocking in a serene forest setting and appreciate the simplicity of a no-hookup campground, Quosatana is an ideal choice for your next Oregon wilderness expedition.

The campground is pleasant, quiet, but in bad need of repairs. There is currently no budget, and the water is in poor condition. The host, Pete, is kind, knowledgeable, and can direct you to where to find excellent agates.

Camp host Pete who admitted he would be homeless if he didn't have his position told us we were banned because we left his porta potty dirty. This happened at 5:30 am. I went in to assess the situation after he examined it. I didn't even know what to do. And so we left. I'm guessing you didn't enjoy our homemade split pea soup. Btw my husband was on crutches with a sprained ankle when Pete demanded we clean the bathroom. AT 5:30 AM! Quiet time is over at 6 am, Mr camp host.

Beautiful campground however not as tidy as it once was. Been coming here for years and they used to mow the grass. Now it's 2 feet in places. Seems like hosts these days are just homeless getting a free place to live.

Clean, quiet. Great fishing camp. Great fir kids. This place was built before RV’s got long, so the turns are tight and I wouldn’t recommend it for longer RVs.
