Neat state park. You get pretty views of Mt Graham, and the lake itself if medium sized. There's not a trail around it, but there's a few areas you can park around it, and even ramps that take you down to the lake. They also have a boat ramp too and a small swimming beach. There's a few picnic areas. The restrooms are very clean and there's accessible parking. The visitor center is clean, though small and they have a few souvenirs and yummy ice-cream. As for trails, they have a 0.75 (?) rocky hike up a small hill with some interpretive signs and another trails that is a straight path that takes you in between the campgrounds. What's neat is if you pay up at the Dankworth State Park down the road, you get free entry here same day.

Roper Lake is WONDERFUL! The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful, even though this was the holidays and they had to work. The facilities have been upgraded in the past few years and are in TOP shape. What a great park, thank you for keeping it up. We camped in our fifth wheel and hooked up to their 50amp power. Water was available on-site with the power. Dump station (nicest I've ever seen) at the park entrance. This was the fourth time we have been here in the past 10 years and each time the park is significantly improved. The $50/night fee is not inexpensive but the new/well maintained facilities it is worth it. Highly recommended!

Great Cabins with air conditioners and clean bathrooms. Lake is small and has a nice swimming area. We stayed over the Fourth of July. And walked to the Mariah Mesa to watch fireworks for Safford and the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend.

This is our second visit to Roper Lake. As last year, the people at the lake were great. Friendly and helpful. The park was clean which is the usual way we find all the state parks! The weather was perfect... Warm in the day and cool at night. Casa Manana in Safford lived up to their reputation with a great meal for all of our group. The only downside was the lake level was down about 6 feet from last year. This meant the little cove we liked to kayak into to watch the birds was no longer accessable. We still kayaked the lake and enjoyed our time on the water. Another successful outing for our club at Roper Lake State Park! Thank you to the lake staff!!

Paid a visit for a Sunday picnic and was pleasantly surprised at the upgrades and park cleanliness. Even the spacious dog park was spotless. Looking forward to spending some more time here. Park staff was also friendly and VERY informative.

I absolutely love this lake! It’s the perfect spot to swim, sunbathe, and fully embrace your inner beach bum. The water? Amazing. The vibes? Immaculate. The sun? Ready to give you that golden glow (or a mild sunburn if you forget the sunscreen learn from my mistakes). One of the best parts? The picnic tables everywhere, so you can lounge like royalty and snack on something delicious before or after your swim. Because let’s be real nothing hits quite like a lakeside feast after spending hours in the water. Parking is super affordable at just $10 per car, but heads up they do not accept Discover card. I, unfortunately, found that out the hard way and had a brief moment of financial panic. Bottom line: This lake is a must visit if you’re looking for a perfect place to soak up the sun, splash around, and live your best summer life. 10/10, highly recommend (just bring a Visa or Mastercard, trust me).
