Had the worst experience staying at a cabin at Rushmore Shadows in July 2025. Woke up in the morning with a few bug bites. The next morning broke out with hives. Didn't know what that was from. Went to the walkin clinic 2 different times & was given a prescription of steroids. Came back home. Noticed a continued break out of spots on a daily basis for 3 months. Went to doctor & dermatologist. Had a biopsy done on one of the spots. Just showed allergic reaction to bug bite or medication. Hadn't switched any meds. In October noticed bed bugs crawling in the middle of the night in roomates room. Come to find out we brought the bugs back from the cabin to our home. Had to spend over $1,000, doing laundry & hiring an exterminator to get rid of them. Still dealing with everything moved out of the house after being exterminated waiting to make sure the bugs and eggs are all gone. I did inform the resort about what i had gone through. They did say they would check it out. Bed bugs can live up to a year. Hopefully no one has to ever experience what we did. I have had a membership with the Resort since 2013 & have rented a cabin twice a year for the past 10 years. Its not always easy to rent a cabin since they can't be reserved no more than 90 days in advance. You'd think they would do better for their members. Maintenance fees are over $400 per year & to rent a cabin is over $100 a night. Not much of an advantage being a member. They also don't do much for updates. This bed bug situation is something that should have never happened if the cabins were kept up. They have called several times to see if I would be interested in upgrading my membership. There is no way I would be willing to pay any more than I have already paid for this membership. It really isn't worth it. Not much of a benefit having a membership. 😕

This is a very nice campground with great facilities. The laundry room is well equipped and was very useful. They do have a lot of amenities. We would definitely stay here again.

This is an amazing campground. Super friendly staff. Beautifully maintained grounds and buildings. A great central location to visit all the sights.

Quiet park near Mt Rushmore Crazy Horse and Custer State Park. The staff were friendly. Nice bathhouse and laundry facilities. Pool was dated but clean. Nice grass at each sight. Well maintained very nice fire pits at each site too

We got our membership with several other families. We were told we could call and reserve a group of 3 spots together if we were all to purchase a membership. They honored this for years and all of a sudden they can't seem to make it work. They offer 3 spots in three different locations on the campground. They have gone from excellent customer service to a "just deal with it" approach to members. It looks like they are trying to cater to those renting spots for the whole summer rather than their loyal members. So disappointed with the new set up....
