Russell Brook Campsite
Overview
Russell Brook Campsite offers a secluded escape nestled within a deep valley of the Catskill Mountains. Unlike many open-field parks, this destination provides a rustic forest setting that emphasizes a connection with nature. Managed with a focus on family-friendly outdoor experiences, the park serves as a gateway to thousands of acres of protected state land. Travelers often visit to trade city noise for the sounds of a rushing mountain stream and the shade of mature timber, creating a tranquil atmosphere for a weekend getaway or an extended stay.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated in Roscoe, New York, a town famously known as Trout Town USA. It occupies a private nook bordered by the Delaware Wild Forest, ensuring that the surroundings remain pristine and undeveloped. A highlight of the immediate area is the short walk to Russell Brook Falls, a picturesque waterfall that defines the local landscape. The geography here is characterized by steep ridges and clear mountain water, providing a truly immersive mountain environment for every guest who enjoys the great outdoors.
Amenities & Park Features
While the atmosphere is rugged, the park provides necessary comforts for modern RVers. Facilities include sites with full hookups as well as water and electric options to accommodate various rig sizes and camping styles. For recreation, the grounds feature a playground, a game room, and a stocked catch-and-release fishing pond, ensuring that families have plenty of entertainment options right within the park boundaries.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Because of its location in Roscoe, the park is a premier base for fly fishing enthusiasts looking to test the waters of the legendary Beaverkill and Willowemoc rivers. Hikers can explore miles of trails within the adjacent state land, including paths leading to the scenic Mud Pond and Trout Pond. For a change of pace, the Roscoe Beer Co. and local diners in town offer a authentic taste of Catskill culture. The area is also rich in wildlife viewing opportunities, from bald eagles to white-tailed deer.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campsite is an ideal match for nature-focused families and outdoor adventurers who prefer a quiet, wooded atmosphere over a resort-style commercial park. It is particularly well-suited for anglers and hikers who want direct access to the natural resources of the Catskills. If you are looking for a place where children can play in a creek and the evenings are spent around a campfire under a clear, dark sky, this park fits your travel style perfectly.

Came in the off-season. Fantastic place for camping, room for any size camper, RV, or tent. Nearby waterfalls are beautiful, plenty of wildlife, and having a campfire with the sound of the babbling brook was picturesque. 10/10 recommended. Will definitely stay again.

It's clean and well-maintained - even the restrooms. Every site is well-equipped with its own water, electricity, fire pit, and picnic table. The best part, though, are the waterfront sites. We were right next to a small brook, and falling asleep to the sound of the water behind our tent was amazing. Everyone we met was super friendly.

We stayed there 7/19-7/21 and I have to say that it is a Wonderful place to go. We have stayed at other campgrounds and the bathrooms were so clean. I have never seen such a well kept facilities. Like most people bathrooms say it all. Definitely going back. Cabins were great also. Very well kept campground. Thank you Teri for such a wonderful stay. Karl and Pam

My group has been coming to this site for more than 15 years for our yearly get-together. We are always greeted with a warm smile and great conversation. Everyone is great! The owners take pride in the grounds and keep them beautiful and well kept. The bathrooms and showers are clean. There are plenty of different wooded or grassy areas to chose from, and the sound of the brook will easily lull you to sleep after a long day. Highly recommended!
