Russell Springs KOA Journey
It's water, water everywhere when you stay at this campground overlooking Lake Cumberland, one of Kentucky's most scenic recreational areas.
It's water, water everywhere when you stay at this campground right next to Lake Cumberland, in one of Kentucky's most scenic recreational areas. Camp here, and it's just a mile to the lakeshore, boat ramp, boat rentals and restaurant. Fishing is great, and so is cruising along the lake's meandering shoreline. Also be sure to visit the area's other key water attraction: Cumberland Falls has been dubbed the "Niagara of the South" and is one of the nation's largest waterfalls. There's plenty more to do in the area - including Mammoth Cave National Park - and plenty to do right at KOA. Play a set of tennis or team up for some volleyball, then cool off in the pool. The recreation hall has cable TV and plenty of video games. Pool: May 18 - Sept. 10. Max pull thru: 75 feet. Your host: Sharon Sackos.

This place is FANTASTIC! I stayed over at this KOA during a weekend at the lake. Gotta say the staff were friendly, the pool was amazing, the park was clean and the mini golf was fun for the kids. John was helpful with giving pointers to do adventure away from the park. 10/10 would go again on a summer getaway weekend.

We spent a few days here with our children for spring break. We stayed in D05. It’s a new “tiny cabin. Our stay was nice and the owners were very hospitable. Giving 3 stars because everything was OK. WiFi does not reach the cabin we stayed in despite owners having recently added an extender. Playground consisted of 4 swings and a stand alone slide. They do have tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts so if you bring equipment that’s available. Cabin was cute but could use some small changes. Hot water for showers was very limited but manageable, cabin needs more hooks and shelves to help get luggage and such off the floor, arcade is vintage which is cool but several games took our money. I’m sure the owners would have given us our money back if we asked but they were gone for the day and it wasn’t a huge deal to us. Location was 30min- an hour away from all of the hiking we wanted to do so that wasn’t ideal but the owner was very kind and took extra time with us to draw maps and give us tons of information. In summary, if you’re looking for a clean and hospitable place to land at night this will serve just fine. If you’re looking for a campground full of fun and entertainment you probably won’t find it here, at least not in the off season.
