This is an amazing place with a nice view and it’s a cozy little campground. During this time of year though you’ll have to bring more water because it’s pit toilets (really nice by the way) and no water but that’s as expected during the colder months. It’s really a neat spot because of the view of the mountains and stars. I highly recommend this campground for its really cool and quiet! 😃

No hookups campground. Water and dump station are available during the Spring and Summer, but not during fall and winter. Smaller sites, but still a good base location. Good views. Glad to have gotten a site since competition is fairly high. Worth the money. Sept 30, 2025.

A nice campground for tenting and trailers. RV camping is welcome. Motor Coaches are a little challenging. No electricity but generator usage is available in loop B and C. The restrooms are updated and clean. Clean showers too. Close to great hiking and sightseeing.

We booked 5 nights online and there was no announcement that the campground would go into primitive status. On our first day, restrooms and water were available, but starting the second day everything was shut down with no running water and no restrooms, only pit toilets. We were camped right in front of the restroom area and it was extremely frustrating to wake up and find it closed without warning. A lot of campers around us were also upset. Imagine reserving, expecting basic facilities, and suddenly being left without water or bathrooms. Because of this, we had no choice but to cut our stay short and move to another campground. We are very disappointed with how poorly this was handled. At the very least, there should have been a clear notice online before booking or an announcement at check-in. This campground really let us down.

We were in loop C site 145. The views of the mountains were awesome but hazy due to the Canadian wildfires. All sites are pull-through and adjacent to the road with many providing limited space for campers. Our site was tight and did not allow us to put out the awning on our camper. There is a nice shower building with four (4) gender neutral showers with easy access from all sites. There is potable water throughout the loop and at the dump station across from the campground entrance. A camp host was in the loop, frequently making rounds to welcome new guests. The staff were friendly and informative. The ranger at the campground entrance provided a good overview of what to expect and what to avoid. You cannot forage for wood but can purchase dry firewood from the General Store at the Rising Sun campground a short drive up Going to the Sun road. Generators are allowed in loop C from 8-10am, noon-2pm, and 5-7pm daily. We had 4-bars of 5G Verizon service throughout the campground.

From a tent camping experience, it was mixed. Campgrounds is clean, well run and organized. There are flush toilets and free showers. There were ranger talks each evening and one specifically for kids. My daughter loved the one on bats. On the downside the campsites we're close together and some of the 'tent sites' were in the drive way. Our first site was so poorly equipped for a tent that we requested another. The second site was at the very middle of loop C, which had a great view but also a view of 20 other sites, many of them campers. Was woken up every night by car alarms going off. Ultimately we were glad to leave and would not return to saint Mary should we come back to Glacier.

Clean restroom and decent shower. However, location of this campsite is awesome. Walking distance to in-park shuttle that takes you to amazing places

The campsite was just okay. It was pretty small and really close to other campers. The bathrooms were pretty clean but 2 out of the 3 stalls were out of order and 1 out of 2 sinks were clogged. I was excited that they were flush toilets though. They had drinking water pumps around the campsite and food boxes as well. The views are stunning and the people working there were so lovely and helpful!

Lovely, smallish campground. Lots of RVs in our loop. Beautiful scenery everywhere. Wish the campground had recycling; we packed our stuff to recycle at the visitor's center. 4 showers for camper with warmish water, but awesomely on site. 🥰 I already want to visit again. Why must Montana be so far.

We camped one night here. Campground is very open and has beautiful view of mountains. Nice hot showers. We were lucky to get the campsite since we went in beginning of June. We were told campsites in summer usually get booked well in advance. One of best campgrounds we have camped so far.
