Overview

Salt Fork State Park is Ohio’s largest state park, offering a sprawling landscape for RV travelers seeking a true wilderness experience. Located near Lore City, this park provides a mix of diverse camping options ranging from basic electric sites to modern full hookups. The park encompasses over 17,000 acres of lush forest and rolling hills, making it a premier destination for those who want to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature. Whether you are staying for a weekend or a week, the expansive campground layout ensures a sense of privacy and access to the great outdoors.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the park’s geography is defined by dense woodlands and winding trails. The center of the experience is the massive 2,952-acre Salt Fork Lake, which offers miles of shoreline and scenic vistas. The surrounding area in Guernsey County is characterized by rural charm, providing a peaceful escape from urban noise. Travelers will find the park easily accessible from the regional highways, yet it feels worlds away thanks to the rugged, natural terrain that dominates the landscape.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is well-equipped for modern RVers, featuring spacious paved pads and a variety of hookup options for different rig sizes. Visitors have access to heated shower houses, flush toilets, and a dump station for convenience. Key features include:

  • Full hookup sites with water, sewer, and 50-amp electric
  • Access to a dedicated campground swimming beach
  • On-site boat ramps and a full-service marina

For those who enjoy a touch of luxury, the park’s stone lodge offers dining and additional recreational facilities.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with over 14 hiking trails and a top-rated golf course located within the park boundaries. Anglers frequent the lake for bass and walleye, while boaters enjoy the unlimited horsepower zones. Just a short drive away, the city of Cambridge offers historical sites like the National Museum of Cambridge Glass. For a unique experience, the nearby Wilds conservation center provides safari tours, while local antique shops in the surrounding villages offer a slower pace of exploration.

Who This Park Is Best For

Salt Fork is an ideal choice for nature enthusiasts and families who enjoy multi-sport vacations. It is a fantastic fit for big-rig owners who need space, as well as boaters looking for easy lake access. We have been having a family get-together at Salt Fork for the last 12 years. We always try to get Cabin 54 for it's location, the view and nostalgia. This year, the front desk associate, Darby, went out of her way to see that Cabin 54 could be made available for our use. Tammy B. in housekeeping came back to prepare the cabin on such short notice and left a wonderfully clean place - in which to create another year of great memories. On checking out, my partner and I met Darby (Front Desk), Seth (Manager) and Steve (Sales Manager). Their commitment to taking care of people was such a pleasurable encounter! Kudos to all!

It is a very peaceful place to rest from the stress of life and pray. Absolutely beautiful place. Super calm and not crowded at all! Great place to enjoy God’s creation!!

First of all, im salty I didn't catch any forks! Jk jk 🤣 Seriously though, one of my favorite spots to fish! Lots of spots to pull over and fish! Today didn't yield anything for me but, the peaceful and beautiful view of the lake and sky was enough for me today. There's hiking trails near as well if you enjoy huffing and puffing, or biking if you like having cramps and Charlie horses for the next year. Either way a great place to go!!! Happy Fishing!!

Had the best weekend camping here! Everything is so clean, people are friendly, TONS of stuff to do whether you are single, a couple or a family with kids! New ecosystem was awesome! Clean private beach for campgrounds, boat rentals and a launch if you have your own. Can't wait to go back!

I really like this gem of a campground. Put water in my fresh water tank and had electricity at site. Site was easy to get into. Only complaint, the picnic table was on the site pad. It had to be moved. As a senior (over 60), this is becoming more difficult. I know, you are thinking, they have to cut the grass. Beach area and boat ramp just for campers. Great place. I was here last year and I am sure that I will stay here again. If I plan better, I might even get a full-hook up site!
