San Bernardino/Dogwood

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Tucked away in the San Bernardino National Forest at an elevation of 5,740 feet, San Bernardino/Dogwood Campground offers a refreshing alpine escape. This seasonal destination is renowned for its lush canopy of deciduous dogwoods and towering pines, providing a serene environment for RVers. Unlike many rugged forest camps, Dogwood balances a natural forest setting with convenient facilities, making it a favorite for those traveling through the Rim of the World scenic byway. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, perfect for those looking to reconnect with nature.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the small community of Rimforest, California, the campground is just minutes away from the popular Lake Arrowhead area. The surroundings are defined by dense woodlands and crisp mountain air, offering a stark contrast to the nearby urban sprawl of Southern California. During the spring, the park transforms with white dogwood blossoms, while the autumn brings vibrant foliage, ensuring a picturesque backdrop for every stay. Its proximity to Highway 18 makes it accessible while remaining secluded enough to feel worlds away.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features nearly 100 sites, many of which offer electric hookups to accommodate modern RVs. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for evening gatherings under the stars. The park provides essential comforts including:

  • Access to flush toilets and hot showers for guest convenience.
  • A central dump station and potable water fill-up points.
  • Paved parking spurs designed to accommodate various rig lengths.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the Dogwood Trail, a scenic loop that starts right within the campground. A short drive leads to Lake Arrowhead Village, where visitors can enjoy shopping, dining, and boat tours on the water. Families often flock to Skypark at Santa’s Village for year-round mountain adventure, while those seeking tranquility can explore the nearby Heaps Peak Arboretum to learn about local flora and fauna and enjoy easy walking paths.

Who This Park Is Best For

San Bernardino/Dogwood is ideal for travelers who prioritize peace and natural beauty over resort-style luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for families looking to introduce their children to the outdoors and for hikers wanting immediate trail access. Because of its spacious, shaded sites and cooler temperatures, it is also perfect for RVers seeking a cool mountain sanctuary to escape the summer heat of the inland valleys and high deserts.

Staff is extremely nice a site was really clean. Love the tall trees and it almost looks like each side was very cozy not very close together which I really loved. The only thing is around the campfire it was slightly slanted which made it difficult to sit around the fireplace I wish there was more flat land around that area but other than that a beautiful place

Beautiful place, perfect for children to play and explore. It's much colder than the surrounding area, so remember to bring extra clothes. Most campsites have electricity, but no water. There are public water points, so you can bring some water containers. Book four to five months in advance to get the spot you want.

Dogwood camping is pretty cool. Lot of trees and the smell of the fire wood burning and seeing the stars above at night, just chilling with your friends & having some beers and some barbecue is a must for everyone! The best part is.... no one bothers you & everybody keeps quiet around 10PM. The restrooms and the showers are pretty clean as well.
