San Bernardino/Green Valley

Overview

Nestled at an elevation of 7,000 feet within the San Bernardino National Forest, the San Bernardino / Green Valley Lake KOA Holiday offers a refreshing mountain retreat. This park serves as a serene gateway to the high country, providing a significantly cooler climate than the valleys below. It balances the rustic charm of a mountain forest with the reliable comforts expected of the KOA Holiday brand. Travelers often appreciate the heavily wooded sites that create a sense of privacy and immersion in nature while remaining accessible for modern RVs.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in the quiet community of Green Valley Lake, positioned conveniently between the more bustling hubs of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. This location is defined by towering ponderosa pines and crisp, thin mountain air. Unlike the busier resort towns nearby, this area maintains a peaceful, secluded atmosphere that feels miles away from the city. The proximity to Green Valley Lake, often referred to as the hidden gem of the San Bernardino Mountains, ensures that visitors are never far from pristine alpine scenery and quiet forest service roads.

Amenities & Park Features

Guests can choose from several site types, including full hookup RV sites and spacious pull-through options for larger setups. The park is well-equipped with essential facilities such as clean restrooms, laundry rooms, and a seasonal swimming pool that is popular during the summer months. For those traveling with pets, the KampK9 dog park provides a fenced area for exercise among the trees. Additional features like the on-site playground, general store with firewood, and reliable Wi-Fi help bridge the gap between a wilderness experience and a comfortable vacation.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find a wealth of activity within a short drive of the park. Just minutes away, the small but beautiful Green Valley Lake offers fishing, swimming, and boating in a tranquil environment. For shopping and lakeside dining, Lake Arrowhead Village is a scenic 15-mile drive away. Hikers can access numerous trails within the surrounding San Bernardino National Forest, ranging from easy nature walks to challenging treks. During the winter, the park serves as a quiet basecamp for visitors heading to the nearby snow play areas or the ski slopes of Big Bear.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for RVers seeking a quiet alpine escape away from the heavy traffic and noise of larger Southern California resorts. It is a fantastic choice for families who enjoy traditional camping activities like campfire stories and exploring forest trails. Because of the high altitude, it is also the perfect spot for summer heat seekers looking to escape the triple-digit temperatures of the Inland Empire. It caters well to those who appreciate a mix of mountain solitude and helpful amenities, making it a reliable choice for both weekenders and long-term explorers.

Not really clean though they charge $7 per person. Dogs are allowed to swim in the lake, do not recommend to swim. The view is beautiful.

I would like to give this place a better review cause the town and lake is beautiful but the people that run the beach are lazy and don't follow through with there listed times. Got to the beach at 3:30 and it was closed said was open till 5pm, so no one could swim the rest of the day cause it's the only swimming area and was locked. So we decided to walk over to the rental place and literally walked up at 3:50-4. And he said they don't allow rentals past 4. For a paddle board or kayak I literally just wanted to get on the lake some how but wasn't possible. No one answers the numbers that are listed on any of the Google maps locations for the beach or rentals so good luck getting information. Wasted a good 2 hours driving to get here, assuming they want to just keep it a small town and not have a bunch of visitors if that's the case that's totally cool! Just dont waste visitors times with false advertising.

The cost was covered up however there was a Lifegaurd and a cash box so I’m assuming if you go for a swim it’ll cost a few dollars. It’s a clean beach and good water so I’d hop on in!
