Loved site 24 for 4 nights. Place was almost empty but reservation.gov showed mostly full. I hope the site gets it together soon. Very misleading. However the place is awesome. Bathroom has flush toilet and clean. Camp host was a super cool guy named Gene. I will be back. Great fishing trip!

Really nice camp fire set up, easy to use. Really friendly campground hosts. Nice clean bathrooms.

The campground is well maintained with lots of space between sights. The rest of the park looks a little bit on the abandoned side. On the Juniper loop they have community water locations which is interesting as they could have plumbed each bay individually. The bathrooms are older but well maintained. There appears to be a dump station but it is very overgrown and locked with gates on both sides. Lake access is limited to a boat Marina which does not have a beach line at the moment due to high water levels. In short if you don't have a watercraft don't expect to be in the lake.

Overall, this was a great campground. Our camp host was really personable and always out and about in the campground. I do wish he would have addressed the dog never on a leash that arrived half way through our stay. The 2nd camp host also limited the trash we could throw since there was only 1 dumpster being used. I booked 3 campsites for our group of 10; 25E, 29E, and 4E. 25E has tons of shade and trees. 29E has no shade except for the pavilion over the picnic table. 4E has a very small area for a tent with some shade over picnic table. 10 minute drive to the marina, but water levels are extremely low.

Sites available for vehicles or short walking paths to campsites (designated by the letter W after the number, I had 10W). Friendly host on site. Well maintained campground with fire ring. Flushing toilet and sink. Clean water source available. Great scenery of the surrounding mountains and of the reservoir. Less than 10 minutes from the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument (budget 4-8 hours for the entire loop). About 30 minutes from Mesa Verde.

Mcphee Campgrounds are very centrally located to canyon of the ancients and Mesa Verde national park. The sites are nice and flat. The bathrooms were clean and neat. No showers available. Most sites have shade and drinking water is accessible throughout the park. The only real problem is that people for some reason don't seem to be able to follow simple rules dealing w. Quiet hours. Quite a few had generators running early in am or late. Site17 is nice and flat w shade but is across from the bathroom so there was a lot of foot traffic. Overall a nice place but not always relaxing if noise level is high.

I didnt stay at the campground but I grabbed all the information to return and it did appear clean and with various lots available to RV and Tent Camping including space for water toys to park. RV camping could be reserved with hookups, and many were reserved. The local reservoir is HUGE! Hiking trails nearby and plenty of sunshine. Checkout the CanDo Trail and history of the reservoir.

Campsites are great. Be sure to pick your site accordingly as some are very small. We rented a boat from the marina and had a blast! Cheers and happy camping
