Booked a room for Jan 2, 2025. When we arrived, the hotel was closed. All the lights were off and it looked mostly abandoned. We went across the street to another hotel and they informed us that the San Juan Motel sold about a month ago and was closed. I called my credit card company, and apparently someone at the hotel still took the payment, so it's definitely a scam now.

Worst hotel/ motel experience of my life. Awful, dirty disgusting rooms, bedding and grounds. Wet towels left in bathroom, toilet had a turd in it, no toilet paper. Absolutely gross! Didn't stay. Left immediately after check in and they refused to refund for the cabin.

The lobby smelled of body odor. The cabin, #10, was not good. The bedspread was stained, the sheets were navy blue so you couldn't see if they were clean. The mattress was horrible; and old memory foam that forgot ..hard and very uncomfortable. Bathroom had no place to set your things or hang your towels; bar torn off the wall. Toiletries were questionable..some substance in a clear plastic cup, not labeled. The two bottles of bodywash and ? were a good brand, but since the third item was a mystery I didn't trust the others to be genuine. No hand soap. Laying on the bed you realized you started to sink..and then saw the ceiling was unfinished being painted. The kitchen stove was either dirty or rusty. There was a lot of trash around the cabin and property, and a big muddy hole you had to navigate around to get to the porch. Their lobby hours noted on the front window said 7am to 10pm. I went the next morning to check out at 7:30am front door was locked. Lights were on so I knocked a few times, no answer. I went to get coffee and came back to check, still nobody there. I decided to take pics of my cabin for proof I left it in the same condition I found it. When I was driving out I noticed somebody at the desk, eureka!! I went in and asked why nobody was here earlier the man and woman just looked at me and said nothing. I asked for a receipt. I also asked how long the current owner had been the owner (since there was a for sale sign in the front window) they said 4-5 years. I mentioned the place needed a lot of work/help, again no response. The only thing charming about the place were the deer that wandered through. Hope the next owner cleans up and fixes the place!

On a positive note the clerk was pleasant and helpful. A dirty and smelly cigarette ashtray greets lodgers outside their room door. The room is barely habitable, everything is old; our bed spread had a cigarette hole; the refrigerator works great. Forget using the Wifi; we had better signal from a hotel across the street. Window and door had large visible gaps. The hotel phone number provided rings to no answer and a full mailbox. Probably doesn't help that the property is for sale by owner. We stayed there so you don't have too; not recommended.

Scam Alert ‼️ We were not able to find another hotel that would accept dogs at the last minute, so we ended up there, in that dump. We asked about the refund policy because the nightly rates were low and the online ratings were also low. The woman working the front desk told us that the policy was: 24 hour notice, so we would definitely have to pay for one night but if we didn't like the room we could immediately cancel the other 2 nights we wanted to book, and get a full refund for those nights. We arrived at the hotel and found that it was impossible to stay there, because everything was so dirty and in bad condition. The covers and sheets on the beds were dirty and stained and smelled horribly. Towels very thin and old! We called the office and the young man with a beard came immediately. He blamed the housekeeper for the whole mess in the room. I told him that it was his responsibility, since he said that he was the owner of the hotel. To make a long story short, that is a scam. Do not do business with them. They will rip you off!! They do not follow the stated refund policy! We wanted to cancel the two remaining nights because they were within the 24 hours cancellation notice period. The guy said that was no longer possible. They ended up charging us for the 3 nights, when we were only at the motel for about an hour‼️ We couldn't stay in that disgusting room. If you're a clean person, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STAY THERE! I took photos of everything but Google doesn't give me the option to show them. Worst experience ever!!
