San Luis Pass County Park (Brazoria County Park)
Overview
San Luis Pass County Park offers a unique coastal experience where the Gulf of Mexico meets West Bay. Managed by Brazoria County, this 15-acre park provides a tranquil waterfront setting for RV travelers seeking a break from the highway. It serves as a scenic gateway between the industrial landscape of Freeport and the historic charm of Galveston Island. Visitors often choose this location for its unobstructed views and the immediate access it provides to the natural beauty of the Texas coastline.
Location & Surroundings
Situated on the tip of Follet’s Island along the Blue Water Highway, the park overlooks the dynamic waters of San Luis Pass. The surrounding environment is a vibrant mix of salt marshes, sandy dunes, and expansive coastal skies. While the park feels comfortably remote, it is conveniently located just across the bridge from Galveston Island, offering a blend of secluded beach vibes and easy accessibility for those navigating the scenic coastal route between Surfside and Galveston.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for both weekend getaways and extended stays with 69 paved RV sites featuring full hookups. Travelers appreciate the inclusion of 30 and 50-amp service, along with onsite restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities to make life on the road easier. Fishing is a major draw here, supported by an onsite bait and tackle shop, a public boat ramp, and a dedicated fish cleaning station. There is also a playground for families and a lighted fishing pier for nighttime angling.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, from beachcombing on the adjacent shores to birdwatching at the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. A short drive across the pass leads to the Galveston Seawall and the Strand, while the nearby city of Freeport offers local dining and supply runs. The pass itself is a hotspot for surf fishing and kayaking, though visitors are often reminded to enjoy the water safely due to the strong currents characteristic of the pass.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for avid anglers and birdwatchers who want to be just steps away from the water. It is a perfect fit for RVers who prefer a more natural, quiet atmosphere compared to the bustling commercial resorts found closer to the city. If you enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the tide and waking up to panoramic Gulf views, this county park provides the quintessential Texas beach camping experience without the crowds.

The sites are narrow and the back in sites seem to be a little too short to accommodate the tow vehicle in front of the trailer. The bathrooms were nice except that the handicapped one could use a fresh coat of paint and a little sprucing up. The recreation is limited if you don't fish but it's a very quiet park and the price is cheap for being on the water and I enjoyed some beautiful sunsets over the gulf. Overall I enjoyed the stay and would probably visit again.

We got here and without gps wouldn’t have been able to find this place. You had to pull into a parking lot then around the building, through the gate. Camping spots were tight, but it was a friendly place. Would recommend going here.

I really like this park, the views are nice, don't get stuck in the sand, Surf and Bay fishing is awesome, be careful of the undertow. It can pull you out to sea. But overall very relaxing

Quite possibly the coolest place to explore on the islands! Go under the bridge on the Galveston side, but don't go in the water!
