Sand Creek RV Park & Campground

Overview

Sand Creek RV Park & Campground offers a peaceful, scenic basecamp for travelers exploring the rugged beauty of south-central Utah. Visitors often comment on the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding red rock cliffs and the mature trees that provide essential shade during the warm desert summers.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the small, charming town of Torrey, the park is less than five miles from the entrance to **Capitol Reef National Park**. The location provides the perfect balance between convenient access to wilderness and proximity to local dining. From the campground, you can see the towering cliffs of the **Waterpocket Fold**, creating a dramatic backdrop for your morning coffee. The elevation here keeps temperatures slightly cooler than the lower desert regions.

The park is designed for practicality and comfort, featuring **full hookup sites** that accommodate a variety of rig sizes. Guests enjoy several key features:

  • **Clean restrooms and hot showers** available for all guests.
  • An onsite deli serving **espresso and local snacks**.
  • Reliable Wi-Fi and laundry facilities for long-term travelers.

While the park maintains a rustic charm, the high level of maintenance ensures a stress-free stay for those on longer road trips through the desert.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw is Capitol Reef National Park, where you can explore the **Fruita Historic District** or hike the Hickman Bridge trail. Beyond the park, travelers can drive the breathtaking **Scenic Byway 12**, often cited as one of the most beautiful roads in America. For those interested in high-country adventures, Boulder Mountain offers fishing and cooler forest trails just a short drive from the campground.

Who This Park Is Best For

We enjoyed our stay very much. Workable wifi & Verizon signal. Clean restrooms & showers. Just a short drive to Capitol Reef. We also had a great dinner at the nearby La Cueva Mexican Restaurant. Would definitely stay again the next time we visit the area.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in September. Harry was very friendly, informative, and accommodating -- just what you need in a host. The grounds are nicely maintained and close to the National Park. The RV park is dog friendly and has clean bathrooms, showers, and wifi. Note for those that have slide outs on both sides: you may need to confirm your spot can accommodate because some spots might have a tree in the way. A great deal for those RVers needing full hookups and a quiet, safe place. We will definitely be back again. Thanks, Harry!

Really enjoyed our stay at Sand Creek RV Park! The cabin was perfect, everything was super clean, and the park is quiet with awesome views. Harry was very welcoming and helpful. Great spot if you’re in Torrey or visiting Capitol Reef.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-July. The campground was easy to find and very clean. I think it has 12 RV sites (full hook-up), which we loved. Bathrooms were very clean and the showers got hot and had nice pressure. The spring water out of the faucet is delicious. There is no camp shop, but a small store is close by. They do sell ice though (very inexpensive). Loved the proximity to Capitol Reef National Park (unfortunately the scenic drive has been closed for over a year) and to the Grand Staircase Escalante. The campground is in a dark sky community, which was well-respected by fellow campers at our stay. Absolutely stunning stars and seeing the Milky Way was just the cherry on top. Would definitely come back and stay here again.

This was a beautiful campground with lots of trees and shades. The owner Harry lives in a beautiful house on-site. He was so nice and helpful. The bathrooms were super clean with good showers. Harry tells people when they come in no outside lights after dark, but he doesn't enforce it. I was all prepped for a dark skies campground, but alas, no such luck. I did gently ask the two offenders to please extinguish outside lights, and it worked the second night! Every evening you're treated to a beautiful sunset with a view of the spectacular red sandstone (if that's what it is) high cliffs and mesas. If you walk from your campsite across Highway 24 you'll see the Hunt & Gather restaurant. This was as fabulous as any foodie restaurant I've eaten in back in Austin. Right here in the Southeastern Utah desert!!
