RV Park

Overview

Overview

Santa Cruz Ranch RV Resort offers a unique camping experience that blends the rugged beauty of the California coast with the comfort of a managed Encore RV resort. Tucked away in the scenic Santa Cruz Mountains, this park provides a tranquil basecamp surrounded by towering trees and fresh mountain air. It serves as a well-established destination for those looking to explore the Central Coast while maintaining access to modern conveniences and a structured resort atmosphere.

Location & Surroundings

Located in the charming town of Scotts Valley, the resort sits just off Highway 17, making it highly accessible for travelers coming from the San Francisco Bay Area or Monterey. The park is nestled within a forested canyon, offering a sense of seclusion despite being minutes away from local shopping and dining. Its elevation often provides slightly cooler, crisper temperatures than the valley floor, making it a refreshing retreat during the summer months for coastal explorers.

Amenities & Park Features

Guests can enjoy a range of facilities designed for relaxation and community. The resort features a heated swimming pool and hot tub, which serve as the social heart of the park during the warmer months. For those who need to stay active or connected, there is an on-site fitness center and a clubhouse that hosts seasonal activities. Practical needs are well-covered with clean laundry facilities, a pet-friendly area, and full-hookup sites that accommodate various rig sizes, including several pull-thru options for easier navigation.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The resort is perfectly positioned for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. A very short drive leads to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, where visitors can hike among ancient giants and explore the San Lorenzo River. History buffs often head to Roaring Camp Railroads for a vintage train ride through the forest. Of course, the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is only about seven miles away, offering classic seaside fun, world-class surfing, and local coastal dining experiences.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for family vacationers seeking a safe and structured environment with plenty of nearby activities to keep everyone entertained. It also appeals to nature lovers who want to be close to the redwoods without sacrificing the comfort of a full-service RV resort. While the mountain roads require mindful driving, big-rig owners will find the park a convenient and scenic home base for exploring the diverse landscapes of Northern California.

This was our first time staying at Thousand Trails Santa Cruz Ranch, and we used one of the tent sites. The campground is definitely geared more toward RVs and trailers. Our site was heavily shaded but lacked privacy, and being near the entrance meant dealing with vehicle noise and headlights throughout the night. Otherwise, we had a good stay! The staff was wonderful, the common areas were incredibly clean, and the showers had great hot water. The pool looked fun, though we didn't jump in. It’s a highly convenient location for accessing Santa Cruz and the highway, but if you want a secluded, back-to-nature camping experience, you may want to look elsewhere.

Loved the location and very friendly and helpful. Santa Cruz is awesome. So much to do and see. I found people very helpful and so many young servants with a smile.

Excellent stay! The location is great and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It was perfect for visiting UC Santa Cruz (only 15 minutes away), with easy freeway access and many dining and shopping options nearby in Scotts Valley.

Fantastic rv spot nestled up in Scott's Valley. Stayed for four days with two adults and two large dogs. 15 minutes to Santa Cruz. Spitless bathrooms, heated pools Friendly staff, and super clean! Manager even called back to give us a military discount. Will definitely be back!
