Santee / Santee Lakes KOA Journey

Welcome to the Santee / Santee Lakes KOA!

Relaxation awaits you at this new KOA with more than 120 Pull-Thru RV Sites, shaded by oaks draped in Spanish moss, tall pines and tropical palmettos. Wander down to the campground's scenic lakefront along the north shore of Lake Marion (the largest lake in South Carolina), where you can settle in for a picturesque sunset. Visit with other campers at the inviting pool or community fire pit, or simply enjoy a game of cornhole or carpet golf. Your pet will enjoy exercising at Kamp K9! The campground sits about 100 miles from both the North Carolina and Georgia state lines, with quick and easy access off I-95. It's just a few minutes' drive to restaurants, shops and several championship golf courses. Historic Charleston, only an hour away, has distinctive architecture, Civil War sites and delicious restaurants. Due to the rural nature of our location, there is not a cable provider in the area, therefore, we are unable to provide cable to our campers.  We do provide WiFi.  Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 85 feet.  Please call for reservations for sites over 65 feet.

To say this campground is rustic is to good. Dirt roads and sites. Sites are cramped together. The staff were friendly and helpful. That's the only positive thing I can say. I will not stay here again. I-95 noise is loud!

I got this KOA as a cheap place to stay on our way home from a round trip road trip to Florida. This ended up being one of our favorite places to stay on the whole trip! I got the basic tent site with no hook ups and I couldn't be happier. There is a beautiful lake view directly outside the window of my tent, a small beach and swim area, fishing dock, boat launch, play ground, mini gold course, and so much more! The campground was nicely spaced and quiet. Everyone was incredibly friendly. Bathrooms were large and clean, comfortable enough fir a nice shower after a long day or swim. The staff were super helpful and kind! At the time of stay they offered complimentary coffee on an arcade/social area in the same building as the camp store. I did not partake however the pizza and wings they offered smelled and looked delicious and the offered delivery to your camp site! They also offered ice and wood deliveried to campsite! The area was nicely shaded by trees but not overbearing so! We loved this so much that we are already planning to come back to this KOA in the future to take full advantage of the lake access for fishing, boating with family! Definitely come check this KOA out!

Stayed one night on Site 13. $80 for Basically one giant ant hill. Woke up to the inside of our brand new travel trailer infested with ants. Even in the bed. Obviously very little pest control is being done. Took us two hours to clean up and we are still finding ants hours later. Manager gave us a refund and was apologetic. Did not use any facilities as we were too busy killing ants. Location is great. Nice dock on the river. Couldn’t even enjoy the sunset as the chairs were covered in ants. Ladies in the office were very nice. Please sort out your ant problem as it is ruining your business.

This isn’t one of the nicer looking KOAs I’ve seen. I kind of wonder why KOA lets it remain on their list. The grounds are well used and worn, with a rustic appearance. The tree cover is all tall pines with few mossy oaks. The campground is set up so all the sites sit parallel to each other in rows perpendicular to the lake so only a few have actual lake views down by the water. The buildings are old and dated and the bathhouse desperately needs to be renovated and updated. They were clean, but really old and in poor condition. Worst part was the site has lots of sugar ants. Everywhere. My RV was constantly having ant trails show up inside. Terrible. They clearly don’t do any insect control. The internet service is horrible. It is slow and drops out regularly. Don’t count on it if you need connectivity for work. Fortunately I had my Starlink mini and was in a site with a clear view of the sky. I stayed two nights in mid September and it wasn’t too crowded and the campground was quiet. I didn’t notice I95 as much as some other reviews suggest. The staff is great and everyone is very friendly and helpful but I am sure I would not come back. There must be something better available on. The lake.

Disappointing Experience at KOA I recently stayed at this KOA campground and unfortunately, it was the worst one we've ever in 50 years visited. The bathrooms were dirty, which was a major turnoff. We were also plagued by bugs, ants coming in the well water lines. All over my brand new camper. The sewage flies seemed to target your eyes and mouth. Very Unsanitary! To top it off, the water wasn't working during our stay, although they did manage to fix it within 24 hours. No refund was offered. The well water quality left much to be desired. My dog ended up getting sick from it. We had to switch to bottled water. If I could give a negative rating for the physical campground, I absolutely would. Please note this is NOT an handicap accessible campground. The only redeeming quality was the staff, who were friendly and helpful. Mike was outstanding! SO helpful! However, until significant renovations are made, we won’t be returning.
