What a gem, quiet and super nice canoe camping spots

This place is wonderful. I kayaked with my gear about three miles out to Eagle Island and had an amazing cliff view from my campsite. Most peaceful solo experience of my life.

This place was amazing! The views of the mountains and lake were unbelievable. Not to mention the sites are spread out so you truly feel like you are in your own space regardless of what site you book. I absolutely recommend if you are an avid fisher or kayaker, and a true outdoorsman/woman.

Nice campground. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. You can bring your own boat or rent from the Saranac Lake Marina. I highly recommend getting a motor boat as most campsites are too far to paddle to in my opinion. It took me 15 minutes to canoe from the marina to our campsite on Eagle Island. The Campground does not have much for facilities. You will have to go somewhere else for a shower if you don’t want to wash in the lake. Meadowbrook campground has some showers and is about 6 miles down the road on the other side of town. Beware of dead trees at the campsites. Almost every birch tree I saw on Eagle Island was dead and one fell on our tent, missing my nephew’s head by a foot.

We have been staying at different sites on Middle Saranac Lake for 25 years. We canoe camp and like to put in at South Creek. Each site has a fire pit, table and outhouse. Some sites have a lean-too. We stayed at site 87 for six days in August. It rained every day, so we swam every day in the rain.

Beautiful island dotted unpopulated lake. Well maintained and laid out campsites.

Nice staff, very patient with the constant flow of weekend warriors. Great weather also helps.

Beautiful location. Sites are clean and basic amenities are include at the campsites that are boat accessible only

One of the most gorgeous camping places in the Adarondacks. All sites are boat-in, which means they feel exclusive and private. If you're lucky, you might even have an island all to your own.

No Docks! Absolutely beautiful place, but for camping, there is no docks! Very rocky shores, had to throw anchor about 20ft from shore and carry everything we needed to camp for 5 ppl, 5 days threw the water, which was deep. I cut my leg on the rocks. Won't be camping here again. And the firepit is garbage, hasn't been cleaned out in a long time

What an awesome place to camp. People like me won't appreciate the restroom situation there but hey, you are going to the woods, you can't expect a fully functional toilet over there. You need to go to your camping sites using a boat. 1 day charge for a 4 people motorboat would be 150$. I would say worth it. Overall It was a experience of a lifetime.
