Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park

Overview

Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park is a stunning natural retreat located at the western end of Lake Diefenbaker. Rich in history, this park preserves the site of the first historic river crossing on the South Saskatchewan River. RVers will find a unique landscape where the rugged coulees meet the vast, shimmering waters of the reservoir, creating a picturesque backdrop for any camping trip. It offers a perfect balance of prairie serenity and active water-based recreation, making it a staple for regional travelers.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just north of Kyle, SK, the park is characterized by its dramatic valley views and steep hillsides. The surrounding South Saskatchewan River Valley provides a stark contrast to the flat plains nearby, offering travelers a sense of geographic wonder and plenty of photographic opportunities. The park is easily accessible via Highway 4, making it a convenient stop for those exploring the southwestern region of the province while still feeling secluded enough for a true getaway into nature.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped for modern RVers, offering a variety of campsites that cater to different setups and preferences. Key features include:

  • Multiple campgrounds offering electric hookups and easy access to fresh water and sani-dump stations.
  • The 18-hole Sagebrush Golf Course, which is located right within the park boundaries for convenient recreation.
  • Well-maintained boat launches and a large sandy swimming beach that serves as a hub for summer activity.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore several interpretive hiking trails, such as the Ridges Trail, which offers panoramic views of the valley. History buffs should visit the Goodwin House, a majestic stone structure built in 1897 that serves as the park’s visitor center. Fishing is a primary draw here, with Lake Diefenbaker being famous for its trophy-sized walleye and northern pike. For those willing to drive a bit further, the unique landscape of the Great Sand Hills offers an incredible day trip opportunity.

This destination is ideal for RVers who prioritize water-based recreation and historical exploration. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for a beach-oriented summer vacation and for anglers seeking a premier fishing experience on one of Canada's largest reservoirs. Camped here for several days. It was hot. There is alot to see and do in the area. The bathrooms and showers were very nice and free $$$. Wood was free as well. Be aware when you stay you will be paying a daily fee for your vehicle on top of your camping reservation, weird. Alot of people fishing Lake Definbaker.

This park has lots of very nice sandy beaches. We enjoyed the ridges and ravines hike, which has a spectacular view of the lake. Campsites are well treed with moderate privacy. The store is very handy and the ice cream was a hit. There are many amenities and attractions at Sask Landing Provincial Park 😎

Lots of red ants in the site and no beach access close to parking to launch SUP's. We were at Riverside in a beautiful site beside the lake. The maps are deceiving as it showed a water outlet between our site and the next. Shower house is also not accurate on the map. Overall decent campground and the ants aren't the fault of the park.

Breathtaking views, and exciting adventures! Climbed the big hills till we lost our breath, and then kept going! Definately a destination I would recommend any day! Even if you just go on the hills nearby without going in the park!
