Cool place to visit and learn about the salmon and how the spawn. Went during the off hours so it was not a lot to see during my visit. Seeing the fish in the pools was cool and seeing the salmon count records is an eye opener on how few salmon we still have in the river

With the Majestic saw tooth mountains looming in the distance and the sounds of life echoing from the winding salmon river you'll find open year round the Sawtooth fish hatchery and visitor center While eagerly exploring the hatchery you will find multiple raceways ..spawning pools and a massive egg incubation center. In June after the kids pond is stocked with ready to be caught hungry salmon and trout the Hatchery's "Kids Pond" comes to life with joyful anglers of all ages.

We were lucky enough to snag a spot (one of the "double" or "split" spots) the end of August 2021 - the folks next to us were agreeable to us splitting the cost with them. We had an RV, they were tent campers. Just an amazingly beautiful spot!

Redfish lake is heaven and part of our yearly camping trips must go to locations. Unfortunately this year the camp host made the experience an unhappy one. He approached us late at night several times on his "rounds" to lecture us on running our generator (not during quite time) or simply talking too loud around the campfire. His tone was condescending and unfriendly. I hope the camp host, Jim, doesn't come back again. Our previous experiences were always of super helpful, friendly camp hosts.

I really wish I would have read some of the reviews more or that the government website gave more information. Knowing that it was first come first serve, and not knowing a time that you had to be there, we showed up with the assumption we could possibly snag a spot. The camp host was so kind and let us know that 630am is the time to be here to get a spot but gave some really great suggestions for close by free camping. Not on the lake but ended up being better for us. So hopefully someone reads this review or sees the picture of when fcfs means. I know for next time but there is such a lack of information on websites.

Sockeye is a nice and clean campground with sand pads for the tents and concrete for tables and firepits. The trees are plentiful but smaller and skinny due to elevation and growing season. Site privacy is moderate. This park seems newly updated. I would definitely go back.

What a neat place! My daughter worked there and loved it. In the summer she would give tours to guests at the hatchery. I got to go up and take a tour. I had no idea about the journey the salmon take to get downstream and back upstream.

Great fisheries program and an excellent place for fresh steelhead in the spring.

A fascinating place to learn about and observe the effort undertaken to sustain and recover the Salmon runs. This is a self guided tour which includes an indoor exhibit and an area out side to walk around and see the fish. It is amazing how much effort is put into raising the fish and it is easy to see that this is a labor of love for all who work here. I really hope their efforts pay off in the future and we see more Salmon coming back to the area.
